The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, a part of the UW Department of Surgery, is seeking a dynamic, innovative Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has the leadership and vision to contribute to and build upon the state-of-the-art clinical and research programs at UW Health. Candidates with track record of success in maintaining an independent clinical practice with a specialization in aortic-related diseases are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be a critical team member and partner within the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Close collaboration with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Vascular Surgery in multidisciplinary program building is expected, in particular centering around aortic-related disease. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated interest in clinical practice, research, education and training. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Key Job Responsibilities: Time dedicated to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows will be equal to a minimum of 5%. Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Department: School of Medicine and Public Health / Department of Surgery / Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin includes 11 full-time academic faculty who provide a unique multidisciplinary approach to the study, evaluation, and treatment of acquired and congenital cardiovascular and thoracic diseases, including heart and lung transplantation as well as benign and malignant disorders of the thorax. The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery has robust support from 22 APP, 14 certified perfusionists, 3 full-time data managers and a physician-scientist. The Division proudly provides excellent clinical care across the spectrum of adult and pediatric cardiovascular and thoracic disease. The three sections of the Division include Adult Cardiac Surgery, Congenital Heart Surgery, which treats patients of all ages, and General Thoracic Surgery. Education within the Division includes a commitment to medical students and General Surgery residents and an ACGME-approved traditional three-year Cardiothoracic residency. The Division also offers a non-accredited fellowship in Thoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support. The UW Department of Surgery consists of more than 160 faculty across eleven specialty divisions, performing more than 25,000 operations annually. The Department also trains more than 70 residents and fellows and is consistently ranked amongst the top surgery programs nationally with extramural research funding, top 15 for 15 consecutive years according to Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The department provides a robust infrastructure of services including academic resources such as The Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), which provides support, resources, and a collaborative environment to facilitate surgical health services research at the University of Wisconsin. The Department's Office of Clinical Research provides clinical trial coordinator support for Clinical Trials as well regulatory support for research, and the grants management team provides comprehensive pre-award to post-award support. The Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin also provides access to a network of surgeons throughout the state and this platform provides opportunities for collaborative quality improvement that improves the care of surgical patients throughout the state and region. Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Assistant Professor (CHS) The faculty member will be an active participant in the clinical, research, and academic service in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Clinical responsibilities include participating in the care of patients at the UW Hospital and Clinics and Meriter UnityPoint Hospital. In this position the physician will treat a wide range of complex gynecologic diseases utilizing office based and surgical treatment modalities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. In this position there will be involvement in a multi-disciplinary pelvic pain clinic as well as participation in developing and maintaining a program for office-based procedures. The incumbent will work with UW colleagues, in the academic specialist division, to enhance surgical skills by assisting and teaching in the operating room during advanced benign gynecologic surgeries. Clinical responsibilities also include full participation in call for the benign gynecology service. The ideal incumbent will be expected to have demonstrated an interest in clinical and/or educational research and will be expected to initiate and participate in such research projects and studies, as well as quality and outcome programs. The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly mission of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Academic responsibilities include participation and oversight of surgical training programs related to medical students, residents, and fellowships, as well as advanced surgical training opportunities for faculty. This position will include responsibilities in the simulation lab, developing advanced skills and metrics for residents.
