    Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center seeks an adult reconstructive surgeon to join four other orthopedic surgeons (1 Arthroplasty, 1 Foot & Ankle, 1 Shoulder, 1 Sports Medicine) in a well-established, busy, hospital-employed, and single-office practice. The surgeons are supported by 1:1 PAs and NPs; skilled anesthesiologists, well-trained surgical technologists, hospitalists, and a nursing staff that completes our team. A strong orthopedic trauma program with (5) surgeons complements our practice. In 2013 we opened our doors to a dedicated joint replacement unit and are certified as a Center of Excellence in Joint Arthroplasty program. This position would also have the potential to serve as the medical director of the Joint Center of Excellence. American Board-certification/board-eligibility in orthopedics and fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery required. Additional Services include: On-site X-Ray and MRI at both clinic and hospital (1) Non-operative Sports Medicine physician (1) Non-Operative Oncology / Complex Musculoskeletal Medicine physician (10) Athletic Trainers, employed by our practice Dedicated OR Block Time (in both Main OR and Ambulatory OR) State-of-the art operating theaters In-house ancillary support (PT, OT, and Wound Care) (1) pediatric orthopedic surgeon Schedule: Weekdays 8:00am to 4:30pm (mixed between surgery and clinic) NO ER call responsibility. As a Registered Nurse, you will provides nursing care to patients in outpatient clinic performing the following duties. This is a Full-Time position working the day shift. Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (85%) Patient Care * Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension * Screens patient prior to procedure for any precautions or contra-indications * Educates patient and family about pre, intra, and post procedure care * Administers prescribed medications and treatments (i.e. contrasts and sedations) in accordance with approved standards and regulations for care * Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient * Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient * Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents * Monitors patient conditions including vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient * Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol * Documents patient history and physical assessment for assigned patients * Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction (10%) Department Support * Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities * Assists in establishing, evaluating and updating patient care standards * Maintains patient monitoring equipment and nursing equipment * Maintains medication reconciliation for expired supplies * Completes weekly AED & monthly crash-cart check offs * Keeps daily temperature logs of medication fridge and blanket warmer * Maintains istat log monthly, and upon receipt of new cartridges (5%) Performs other duties as assigned Required: * Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nursing * Registered Nurse with current appropriate state license * Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification * BLS and ACLS * Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or clinic Preferred: * Bilingual * Experience in outpatient radiology RAYUS is committed to delivering clinical excellence in communities across the U.S., driven by our passion for and superior service to referring providers and patients.
