Integration Health is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon to do thoracic Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) and thoracic organ procurement in central Florida. The ideal candidate will have experience with thoracic transplantation, organ preservation and procurement, and NRP. Equally important are the leadership and people skills to work in a group setting, be collaborative, listen and integrate feedback from others, and to manage different teams and stakeholders in the procurement process. Integration Health provides NRP, Cardiovascular Perfusion, and ECMO Services to >70 facilities in 24 states.
Compensation: $500,000-$800,000 depending on NRP/transplant volume
Schedule: Call is 21 days/month which can be broken into two blocks; remaining time is vacation time (16 weeks a year). Current volume is 5-8 NRP/Procurement cases a month, but this may increase over time. The response time to the facility is two hours.
Qualifications: Must be ABTS Certified (or foreign equivalent) and eligible for Florida licensure. Must have experience with thoracic NRP, cardiovascular perfusion, organ preservation, and thoracic organ procurement.
Benefits:

Job Summary:
This setting may require the General Surgeon to coordinate with local hospitals to determine local capabilities, coordinate admission, monitor and arrange final disposition. In addition, this setting may require stabilization of patients and coordination of evacuation of patients to medevac center or CONUS. The General Surgeon will provide preoperative, operative, and post-operative management of patient care. General Surgeons provide a U.S. standard of care for our patient care/treatment model.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.
Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.
Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines.
Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
Performs duties in a safe manner and follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience.
All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.
Must have completed General Surgery Residency within the United States or Western country equivalent.
U.S. or Canadian Board Certified.
Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) license.
Have and maintain current certification:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Life Support(BLS) or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Must be current in all required certifications.
Participate in training, (including HIPAA training).
Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs.
Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
Requires a favorable security background check and drug screen.
Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent completion of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) or comparable advanced trauma course featuring “live tissue” or exceptional simulation training is desirable.
Completion of a trauma fellowship will merit particular consideration.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as directed by the Client.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel to Kwajalein is required by air.

Dr. Johnny Gurgen graduated with honors from Kean University in New Jersey before getting a medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He did his internship with a special emphasis in internal medicine before finishing his dermatology residency at Suncoast Hospital in Largo, Florida while serving as a co-chief resident.
He was awarded the Intendis Research Award and the Fifth annual North American Clinical Dermatologic Society Research Award in 2008. He was the winner of the Koprince Lecturer of the Year Award in 2009. Dr. Gurgen was also awarded the WDS Mentorship Grant in 2010 and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship, where he worked closely with experts in dermatology in Sydney, Australia and Monterrey, Mexico.
Dr. Gurgen has been published in multiple world-renowned dermatologists journals including the J of the American Academy of Dermatology, J of the European Academy of Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery and Cutis. He has given various poster presentations and lectures at national meetings, including the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology's annual meetings. Apart from his scholar experience, he has been involved in giving back to the community by volunteering for various Melanoma Monday skin exams through the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as lecturing to high school students at the Progress Energy Great American Teach-in.
