Vascular Surgeon - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
A dmission, consultation, work-up, preoperative and postoperative care of surgical patients.
Surgical duties that include: admissions, consultations, preoperative work ups, as well as postoperative care to correct or treat various vascular conditions, illnesses and injuries.
Operates or directs the operation of fluoroscopic equipment for a medical procedure.
Makes preliminary diagnosis; directs, prescribes or provides treatment, arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required.
Actively participates in Emergency and On-Call schedule.
Provides comprehensive vascular care including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to patients.
Management of patients during their inpatient course, using consultants when appropriate and performs inpatient consultations on patients from other services.
Conducts outpatient clinics; reviews patients' medications, diet, course of therapy, adherence to management plan and patient observations; modifies management plan as indicated; and instructs and counsels patients as required.
Serves as a consultant to primary care physicians and accepts referrals and outpatient consultations from other providers.
Functions in a teaching capacity by educating others (patients, staff, trainees, and/or seminar participants, etc.) in the assessment, treatment, management and evaluation of vascular disorders.
Refers patients as appropriate; works closely with allied health professionals; and participates in the Surgical Department Quality Assurance and Peer Review programs.
Consults with other team members and supervising physician regarding complex or unusual situations.
Effectively communicates with and utilizes other disciplines to facilitate appropriate care for Veterans.
Collaborates with divergent multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customers constructively and appropriately.
Experience training in point of care ultrasound; competence in the placement of advanced central monitoring catheters; experience supervising/teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Required to meet CME and participate in activities to improve anesthesia-related outcomes and efficiencies including regular participation in morbidity and mortality conferences, staff meetings and resident mock oral examinations.
Responding to ERTs that occur while on duty on our surgical floors
Responds to all code blue alerts
Documenting and or co-signing resident/fellow daily patient encounters appropriately and in a timely fashion.
Communicating effectively with all members of the ICU team and all our consultants
Expected to cooperate with and actively participate in medical duties and performance improvement activities under the direction of the Section Chief of SICU and General Surgery.

The opportunity offers the appropriate person to rapidly attain clinical, academic, teaching, and leadership experience:
Develop and lead a program focused on complex facial reconstruction, functional restoration, and collaborative care supported by a multidisciplinary team and robust academic resources.
Practice in both outpatient and hospital-based settings, providing comprehensive care for patients requiring facial trauma management, skin cancer reconstruction, and functional nasal and facial procedures.

Clinical Structure
Clinic Days: 2 per week

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients presenting with joint-related issues, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, preferences, and medical conditions. Discuss treatment options with patients, including both surgical and non-surgical interventions, and educate them about the risks and benefits associated with each approach.
Surgical Procedures: Perform total joint replacement surgeries using advanced surgical techniques and technologies. This includes pre-operative planning, intraoperative procedures, and post-operative care management.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients throughout the treatment continuum.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, rehabilitation protocols, expected outcomes, and potential complications associated with total joint replacement surgery. Provide guidance on post-operative care and lifestyle modifications to optimize recovery and long-term joint health.
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
Board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction or Total Joint Replacement Surgery
State medical license and DEA registration
Excellent surgical skills and proficiency in total joint replacement procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative healthcare team
