Summary: Assists physicians in all aspects of an Orthopedic/Sports Medicine medical office. Assisting with casting, splinting, DME (durable medical equipment) and general patient and surgical care. Assists in procedure and general maintenance of equipment, supplies and exam rooms. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Formal Education Required: a. High school diploma or equivalent b. Orthopedic Technologist Certification preferred 2. Experience and Training Required: a. One year PTA, OTA, Exercise Physiology, Medical Assistant (with Orthopedic/Sports Medicine experience) in lieu of Ortho Tech Certification. 3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: a. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology b. Knowledge of medical terminology c. Basic computer skill d. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. 4. Level of Physical Demands: a. Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously. b. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time c. Must be able to bend, stoop and lift d. Must have the dexterity to use clinical instruments and equipment e.
