JOB SUMMARY:

JOB SUMMARY:
The MedicalAssistant is a key member of the patient care team by supporting physicians and other clinicians in the delivery of high-quality health care to ambulatory patients. MedicalAssistants are vital to the effective operations of a fast-paced medical practice. MedicalAssistants help patients transition from the outside world into the provider's office.
The MedicalAssistant performs a variety of important tasks to promote optimal health for our patients, including:
Assist physicians and other clinicians with important clinical duties including but not limited to taking medical histories and assisting in physical examinations
Act as a liaison between patients, physicians and other clinicians.
Measure patient's vital signs
Prepare and administer vaccines/medications
Document patient information into the electronic health record
Collect specimens for testing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of a medicalassistant program or at least two years of medicalassistant within the last five years.
Good communications skills. Experience using a keyboard and computers.
Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
Current AHA CPR certification.
Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
Ability to cooperate and work with others.
Ability to make sound and timely decisions and ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients as needed, ability to stoop/bend.

Informs licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition/needs, of patient complaints, and of patient/significant other educational needs.
Answers patients' calls for help, takes their vital signs, and monitors their behavior and physical condition for progress or deterioration. Assists with baths, ambulating, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene and making occupied and unoccupied beds. Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, measuring and recording intake and output of fluids.
Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them upon dismissal as indicated.
Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment. Utilizes time and supplies economically and conscientiously.

Major Responsibilities:
Adheres to MedicalAssistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
May serve as a role champion or on a committee.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e., chief complaint, allergies, and/or medications). Monitors and completes Clinical Integration/ Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinician for opportunities within their scope.
Performs laboratory procedures (i.e., strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions/infection control guidelines.
Assists the Physician/ Advanced Practice Professional (APP) with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
Administers routine medications, under Physician/ APP orders or medical group approved standing orders/protocols, which may include but are not limited to immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to Registered Nurses and Physician/APC per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
Communicates with Physician/APP and other members of the health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjusts as necessary. Effectively communicates accurate and timely information with the patient.
May perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks or skills based on the specialty and appropriate competencies such as but not limited to removal of sutures and staples, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen), phlebotomy - butterfly, venous heel stick, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, prescription refills using approved protocols, etc., under clinical supervision.

JOB SUMMARY:
The MedicalAssistant is a key member of the patient care team by supporting physicians and other clinicians in the delivery of high-quality health care to ambulatory patients. MedicalAssistants are vital to the effective operations of a fast-paced medical practice. MedicalAssistants help patients transition from the outside world into the provider's office.
The MedicalAssistant performs a variety of important tasks to promote optimal health for our patients, including:
Assist physicians and other clinicians with important clinical duties including but not limited to taking medical histories and assisting in physical examinations
Act as a liaison between patients, physicians and other clinicians.
Measure patient's vital signs
Prepare and administer vaccines/medications
Document patient information into the electronic health record
Collect specimens for testing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of a medicalassistant program or at least two years of medicalassistant within the last five years.
Good communications skills. Experience using a keyboard and computers.
Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
Current AHA CPR certification.
Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
Ability to cooperate and work with others.
Ability to make sound and timely decisions and ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients as needed, ability to stoop/bend.
Ability to lift to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
