Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and presents high quality food within specified time frame for patient and retail services. Properly follows safe food handling procedures. Takes customer's orders and prepare the order according to recipe, keeping in mind additional customer specifications or dietary needs.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
* 6 months healthcare or restaurant facility.
Licensure/Certification:
* Illinois Food Safety Sanitation Certification (or within 1 year of hire). Anyone hired into the Cook position at Saint Francis Medical Center (Peoria, IL) prior to 9/1/2020 is to be considered grandfathered and exempt from this requirement.
* FSSC-Food Service and Sanitation Certification
Other license/certifications:
* Heart of Mary Medical Center (HMMC) &
* Motherhouse - Does not require Cooks to have FSSMC or the CFPM certifications. At these locations, cooks must have Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire.
Other skills/knowledge:
* Know basic math skills and follow instructions.
* Must be willing and capable of working in a fast paced environment.
* Must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment.

Description

Under the direction of the Food Services Director, help to manage the operation of the Food Services Department. Including food ordering and accountability, preparation, food delivery and cleanliness in accordance with appropriate health department regulations. As a Cook, you will work under direction of the Food Service Manager. This position requires thorough knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, storage & operation of food service equipment to prepare, cook & serve food. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
* Provide work direction & training to youth workers & youth apprentice in food preparation, sanitation & storage of food for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility (CHJCF);
* Monitor service lines, loading of carts, storage of foods & general cleaning;
* Work all stations on a rotating basis to include cooking, dish washing, wiping down tables, working on the serving line, and sweeping & moping floors
* Operate commercial/standard kitchen equipment to cook food
* Mix salad & make desserts, dressings & breads; prepare hot & cold beverages & special menu foods; slice meat & cheese; make sandwiches; assemble fruit plates & relish trays; clean & cut vegetables & meats before cooking & mixing
* Clean work area, equipment & utensils; ensure safety & sanitation of assigned area;
* Operate cash register; prepare daily paperwork to include but not limited to HAACP forms;
* Supervise youth workers assigned to work area; follow youth general safety& security procedures;
