Position Summary
The Manager, Community Education plans, develops, and evaluates Community Education programs in collaboration with staff and stakeholders. This role oversees program operations, staffing, and budget management while fostering innovation, quality improvement, and community partnerships. The Manager provides strategic and performance leadership, supervises program staff, and ensures compliance with all district policies and childcare regulations.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in community education, school-age care, or youth development programs, and a passion for leading teams, enhancing programs, and engaging diverse communities.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Manager provides guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations for direct reports and supports program staff in achieving operational and student success goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership (20%)
* Align Community Education programs with the district's mission and core values.
* Participate in district initiatives, committees, and task forces.
* Develop and communicate a shared vision for assigned program areas.
* Conduct program assessments, prepare reports, and implement improvements.
* Develop training materials and supervise building supervisors.
Performance Leadership (25%)
* Build staff capacity and apply technical expertise to enhance program effectiveness.
* Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff, including providing timely feedback.
* Lead delegation of tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow.
* Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training staff, including summer and school year employees.
* Provide on-call or on-site support for program staff as needed.

* Administer/monitor program budgets, monitor staffing ratios, and ensure fiscal accountability.
* Ensure compliance with district policies, state childcare regulations, and permitting systems.

Qualifications
* Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Community Education, Education, Youth Development, Early Childhood, Human Development, Adult Education, or a related field (required).
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant programming experience.
* 0-1 year of supervisory experience.
* Experience in public school and/or community-based programming is preferred.

Below listed are the key contract terms and conditions for a Long Call Reserve:
* An assignment of twenty-one (21) consecutive duty days or more.
* In order to be eligible for a long call assignment, you must be licensed in the subject you are teaching.
* There is no pay for Thanksgiving, winter, or spring break. Long call subs will be paid for staff development days if they are required to work.
* Long Call subs will be granted one (1) day of sick leave for every twenty (20) consecutive duty days in the assignment during the school year.
* If the assignment is at least one semester (90 school days) or more, the long call sub is eligible to purchase single medical coverage. The school site may or may not pay for all or part of the insurance cost. CADRE RESERVE - Rate of Pay: $29.77hour; Daily Rate: $238.16
A Cadre Reserve is another special classification of Reserve Teacher that reports directly to the manager of the Reserve Desk. Cadres can only accept assignments on a last-minute basis, in order to fill assignments that have not been accepted by short call reserves. A Cadre can only accept assignments the morning of the absence. In addition, there are certain restrictions placed upon the assignments Cadre Reserves can accept. A Cadre does not always have a choice of where or what type of class they are assigned to. They must be willing to fill any given assignment in the district on any duty day. In the event there are no open assignments, a Cadre will be assigned by the Reserve Desk to a school site to provide assistance as directed by the site administrator.
Reserve Cadres are required to work every student contact day, and may be placed up to twenty (20) days in the same classroom. Reserve Cadres are crucial positions as they provide support to the building while they look to find a Long Call Reserve for a long-term absence. * Work cooperatively with other district-based GEAR UP staff, school personnel, families and the community at large, raising awareness of the benefits of a post-secondary education.
* Work cooperatively with educators to provide summer enrichment activities that include academic preparation, job-shadowing, college visits, etc. meeting the needs of the school district's students.
* Attend GEAR UP meetings, institutes, and conferences, providing continuous feedback and recommendations.
* Maintain data collection of GEAR UP activities and record student progress.
Education and Experience Guidelines
* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
* Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
* Demonstrated continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
* Master's or PhD preferred.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota teaching license as a K-12 or secondary Guidance Counselor; or proof of pending approved licensure

POSITION SUMMARY
This part-time paid position provides high school students with hands-on experience supporting the Community Education, Athletics and Activities department. RESPONSIBILITIES
As an intern, you will always work alongside adult staff. Responsibilities include:
* Perform administrative and clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and organizing program materials.
* Assist Community Education instructors with youth classes, including leading activities, supervising students, and preparing/cleaning classroom spaces.
* Work at athletic events: ticket taker, scoreboard operator, shot clock operator, youth referee, or concessions helper.
* Support coaches and staff with setup, takedown, and game/event management.
* Provide excellent customer service to participants, families, and community members.

* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with guidance.
