NuCara Home Medical is Central Iowa's leading independent provider of Home Respiratory and Home Medical Equipment.
What We Do
What we do matters, and our delivery team does more than just drop off a package. As a Delivery Technician, you will provide in-home set up and instruction of medical equipment for our patients. You will learn how to operate a variety of medical equipment, including home oxygen, hospital beds, and wheelchairs, how to educate patients and their caregivers on their proper use, and how to troubleshoot when things don't quite go as expected.
Our standard hours of operation are Monday Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Our patients sometimes have equipment needs outside of our regular business hours, and this position will participate in an on-call rotation, with some evening and weekend hours required.
Who Should Apply
If you have existing delivery experience and are looking for a position that's more than just a package drop off this might be the position for you. If you are new to delivery but have a clean driving record and criminal history, are positive and upbeat, and are looking for an opportunity to enter the growing healthcare field this is a position you should definitely consider.
Prior delivery experience and home medical experience is preferred for this position, but not required - we're willing to train the right person. This position does require the ability to lift, position and maneuver heavy loads from 50 to 150 lbs. and does require frequent squatting, bending and twisting. Candidates must be able to follow directions, be detail-oriented, and have basic competencies using a smartphone, iPad and desktop computer. Familiarity with Ottumwa area and surrounding communities is a plus. Applicant must live in service area.

Requests payment from patient and/or family member following the scripting for collections.
Logs payment, produces receipt, and prepares recap sheet.
Maintains accurate petty cash balances daily.

Assists patients with questions regarding hospital/clinic bills including taking payments at any registration location.
