Under supervision of the registered nurse, performs a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for mental health patients. Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served; reports and records observations; contributes to the efficient functioning of the unit including answering telephones, directing unit traffic, and entering patient orders into the electronic medical record in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy. Provides a visible presence on the unit. Maintains a safe and secure environment for patients, visitor, employees, and physicians. Intervenes in difficult and sometimes physical situations to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, employees and physicians. All duties performed in accordance with established, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Qualifications
Education:
One of the following required:
Relevant healthcare program completion (e.g. certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician-basic, medical assistant, personal care aide, etc.)
Completion or active enrollment in core nursing classes
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
CPR certification required, or obtained during nursing team onboarding process.
Obtain national certification as a psychiatric technician within 1 year of employment preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience performing the essential responsibilities of the mental health technician role.
Experience in Mental Health and/or Forensic work preferred.
Post high school education in Psychology or related field preferred.
One-year secretarial or comparable clerical experience strongly preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Basic computer data entry skills, including the ability to enter, store and retrieve information.
Possesses updated knowledge and competency in using equipment related to job duties (i.e., gait belt, mobility devices, protection/safety equipment, etc.)
Demonstrates effective communication skills with the ability to relay information to/from patients, their families, and members of the care team. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities
Our PhysicalTherapists examine and treat patients with physical impairments through the use of physical modalities. The goal is to assist persons who are physically challenged to improve mobility and function, independent self-care, other skills necessary for functioning in daily living. We have Specialty Programs that include Balance and Fall Prevention, Spine Safety, Total Hip and Knee Replacement Program, and our Total Shoulder Replacement Program. He/she administers skilled care to clients requiring intermittent professional services and teaches the family and other members of the health care team. Salary: Range based on education, experience, and licensure or certification
Master's Degree: $60,000/annually + every other Friday off paid
Master's Degree + LPC, LSW, or CADC: $64,000/annually + every other Friday off paid
Master's Degree + LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT: $67,000/annually + every other Friday off paid
Sign On Bonus Eligible for one-year commitment
Schedule: Full-Time | Every other Friday off (paid wellness day)

Your Role:
Therapist - Heritage Behavioral Health Center (Decatur, Illinois)
As a Therapist at Heritage Behavioral Health Center, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders. You will play a key role in helping clients achieve recovery and improve their quality of life through individualized treatment planning, counseling, and therapeutic interventions.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct screenings, assessments, and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and client goals.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices.
Deliver therapy services that address mental health and substance use challenges.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, person-centered care.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
Participate in crisis intervention and provide support during acute episodes.
Engage in community resources coordination to support recovery and wellness.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, evidence-based treatment modalities, and recovery-oriented practices.
Skills in conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and developing treatment plans.
Strong counseling and therapy skills, including motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
Ability to build therapeutic relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health record systems.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations.
Ability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively.
Commitment to ethical standards and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or other human service fields
Ability to obtain licensure as LPC, LSW, or certification as a CADC within 2 years
Minimum of 21 years of age
A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
