Outpatient psychiatrist job description

Our system is seeking a Psychiatrist to help our serves seniors 55 and older throughout Indiana and eastern Illinois who are expiring dementia, Alzheimer’ s disease or exhibiting inconsistent, disruptive, unpredictable or even suicidal behavior. This position will primarily be outpatient and assist when needed on the inpatient side

Ideal candidate will have a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Candidate will display exceptional interpersonal skills and desire to develop strong ties with the community and build long-lasting relationships with patients. Physician will need to work collaboratively to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
Flexible Schedule: Monday – Friday Weekday, Weekend & Holiday Call: Will take own call Primarily older adult patient population Average outpatient clinic volume: 12 - 15 patients per day Will provide cross coverage for inpatient geriatric psychiatrist as needed Average inpatient volume: 7 – 10 patients per day Common Diagnoses: Dementia Dementia with Behavioral Disturbance Depression Delirium Anxiety

Job Description

Berkshire Psychiatric is seeking a full time (40 hours) Board/eligible Psychiatrist to serve both child/adolescents and adults in either of its two outpatient locations in the Reading, PA area. Part time (20-25 hours) opportunity as well.

Position Summary:

• Initial psychiatric evaluations
• Work collaboratively with other disciplines to create individualized treatment plans
• Develop appropriated medication regiment based on the patient's history and symptoms
• Working closely with the patient and program staff to help enhance medication adherence through client staff education, one-to-one and/or group interventions with the patient and monitoring the medication procedures in place at the respective program
• Facilitating patient linkage to community-based Primary Care providers
• Communicating and working with other community-based physicians

Education:

• License in the state of PA as a MD or DO, specializing in Psychiatry and Geriatrics
• Board Certified or Board Eligible

Experience:

• At least two years’ experience working as an MD/DO with mental health adult population in an outpatient setting preferred.
• Strong background in pharmacology with focus in psychopharmacology and drug interactions.
