SUMMARY
Gull Communications, a multimedia company based in Richfield, UT, is seeking an experienced ADVERTISING SALES REPRESENTATIVE for the Richfield Reaper, who will have key responsibilities that include: recognizing changes and opportunities in the marketplace and recommending the best course of marketing to current clients and prospective businesses; taking a proactive approach for revenue in the Vernal Express; and consulting with existing and new advertising customers to translate their business objectives into successful advertising programs. Must be out of the office the majority of the day.
REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE In addition, the employee is expected to speak well of the company; professionally and effectively represent the company in the market; communicate with peers and supervisors in a respectful and professional manner; adhere to company policies and guidelines as outlined in the company handbook; follow state and federal regulations and guidelines for legal advertisements; and demonstrate the ability to adequately respond to constructive advice and specific coaching from appropriate management personnel. Some of the duties include:
• Local retail--be aware of market changes, especially business openings and closings; apprise the publisher of all competitive media activity in your market; strive to develop key contacts and ad schedules with the numerous businesses in the market.
• Special sections/pages--promote all special sections/pages well in advance, and then manage them to sales success; use special sections/pages to generate non-traditional advertisers in the industrial, medical and other segments of the market, as well as introduce local non-advertisers to your publications.
• Major accounts--assist with the selling and servicing of major or key local advertising accounts, as assigned.
• Credit--review accounts receivable reports at least once per week and respond accordingly, to keep collection numbers within acceptable limits; work within the guidelines of the credit department to manage assigned accounts' applications, billing, and payments of placed advertising to keep write-offs to a minimum.
• Sales promotions--work closely with the ad director and the publisher to use advertising space sales and special pricing opportunities as effective ways of driving new revenues during slow economic periods, as well as assisting your publication's marketing efforts in building stronger bonds with the business communities served by your publications; recommend promotions as needed.
• Personal sales effort--personally sell and service an acceptable number of key advertising accounts, as directed by the advertising director; sell either solo or in tandem with managers on smaller local accounts, major business accounts, independent mid-size retailers, or other accounts as assigned.
• Demonstrate aggressive and effective work habits: sustain positive attitudes and goals while encouraging other team members to do the same; demonstrate willingness to work hours necessary for accomplishment of goals.
• Know procedures and policies of the company as they pertain to the advertising department.• Work with production department to find positive approaches to improved efficiency and error reduction; provide accurate information: copy, run dates, rate quotes contact info to the client to maximize time for sales efforts, and to minimize credits.• Provide exceptional customer service by ascertaining client's marketing needs, strategies and procedures to maximize advertising exposure.
• Adhere to all deadlines for newspapers, online, niche products and magazines.
