Work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Performs technical field work as part of a survey field crew, work includes loading, carrying, and operating survey instruments, including theodolites, digital levels, Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, and data collectors with Trimble software; cutting trees and brush for line of sight, measuring distances, and preparing field notes and sketches; performing boundary, topographic, construction layout, as-built, right-of-way control, and hydrographic surveys; performing field survey calculations for monument searches, boundary determinations, sectional breakdowns, and construction layout. REQUIREMENTS: Survey Field Tech I : Six (6) months of field surveying experience; OR one (1) year of civil construction layout experience; OR twenty-four (24) semester hours [thirty (30) quarter hours] of college-level coursework towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Mathematics, Geography, Geographic Information System (GIS) Input, or a closely related field. Survey Field Tech II: Eighteen (18) months of survey experience as a member of a field survey crew; OR two (2) years of experience with civil construction layout; OR one (1) year [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year] of college-level coursework towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Mathematics, Geography, Geographic Information System (GIS), or a closely related field PLUS six (6) months of survey or construction experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, all of the classes for any one (1) phase of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examination. Survey Field Tech III: Three (3) years of field surveying experience working under the supervision of a Registered Land Surveyor and Mapper; OR two (2) years [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year] of college-level course-work towards a technical degree in Surveying, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Mathematics, Geography, Geographic Information System (GIS), or a closely related field PLUS one (1) year of survey or construction experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully complete, within eighteen (18) months of employment, all of the classes for any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each of the phase examinations. Must complete, within eighteen (18) months of employment, all of the classes for all three (3) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each of the phase examinations. Must successfully complete, within twenty-four (24) months of employment, a Brevard County-sponsored leadership course, including 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, 5 Choices to Extraordinary Productivity, Emotional Intelligence, The Multiplier Effect, What's Your Sign?, or another County-approved leadership course. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for all vacancies. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, a current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, current documentation of successful completion of an OSHA-compliant Confined Space Entry Training course, in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.146. Must successfully complete, within nine (9) months of employment, all of the classes for the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees. This position will be responsible for maintaining and care of their monitoring equipment and overall maintenance of the LDAR inventory. The following list of duties are the responsibility of the Environmental Technician. Participate and be engaged in the safety culture Complete comprehensive Job Safety Analysis at their jobsite Maintain and use all required PPE Perform and document calibration of monitoring instrument as required Perform and document calibration-precision test and response time test as required Perform and document field inspections accurately, safely and efficiently Document on leak tag completely and accurately for all leaks found Hang inventory tags and re-hang fallen inventory tags Document and report any tag maintenance and inventory discrepancies found in the field Document Management of Change and assist to maintain the accuracy of field inventories Perform and document drift assessments, where applicable Participate in training for career development, safety and maintaining required certifications Perform any other duties assigned by client or project manager(s) Organizational Core Competencies: Perform all duties with integrity, safety and a professional mentality Promote a positive and inclusive work/team environment Communicate all program deficiencies and improvements Report all non-conforming work Ensure effective communication Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality and good judgment when dealing with sensitive company, personnel and client information Foster collaboration and communication Education Requirements: High School diploma required at minimum, preference given to applicants with an associates or bachelors degree in science related or environmental programs. A DAY IN THE LIFE As a key member of the LDAR team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: Conduct routine leak inspections of industrial piping and tank components using a backpack-mounted organic vapor meter Maintain a basic understanding of air quality rules and regulations Maintain good public relations with clients Report all environmental and safety issues to client and Regional Manager Maintain all Company equipment in good condition Remain current on all Montrose and client safety training and policies Report all safety or compliance irregularities to the Client and to the Regional Manager Maintains the company vehicle including cleaning, minor repairs, oil changes, etc., and document each activity in the Vehicle Maintenance Log Reports all incidents that affect "normal routines," including, but not limited to accidents, injuries, equipment failures or breakage, scheduled activities and client relationships to the Regional Manager Performs daily vehicle checks and required routine maintenance of field vehicles, and document using the Vehicle Maintenance Log if applicable Properly uses the fuel card, and correctly and accurately reports odometer readings when fueling vehicle, if applicable Maintains all field equipment in good condition Reports all non-working equipment to the Regional Manager and prepares Incident Report Represents the company in a professional manner, including personal habits, dress codes and communication skills Attends all required Safety meetings Checks in and checks out as required for all locations Demonstrates knowledge of safety procedures Immediately reports all work-related accidents and incidents to the site superintendent, Regional Manager and Field Safety Coordinator Prepares Near Hit/Hazard Reports as required by the Safety Manager or specific job site NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
