WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Provide leadership and direction for the fish passage and stream team, including staff development, workload management, and mentoring.
Build and expand client relationships, pursue new opportunities, and contribute to the business development and strategic planning.
Lead the design and delivery of fish passage projects , including culvert replacements, stream simulation, and habitat connectivity improvements
Manage projects budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
Serve as the technical leader in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to support planning and design.
Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, technical reports, and construction documents.
Conduct and supervise site assessments, field investigations, and data collection.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, planners, and environmental scientists.
Support permitting and regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.
Communicate effectively with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to advance project goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State.
10+ years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, including hydrology and hydraulics with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
WSDOT Fish Passage and Stream Restoration Design certification or ability to obtain it within 1-year.
Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or related design software.
Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing construction documents.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
PREFERRED:
Direct experience with fish passage design, stream restoration, or aquatic habitat projects.
Knowledge of Washington State permitting requirements (WSDOT, WDFW, Ecology, and local jurisdictions).
Familiarity with GIS applications.
Master's degree in water resources or environmental engineering.

Prepare and review high-quality technical documents such as wetland delineation reports, critical area reports, jurisdictional determinations, mitigation plans, HPA, and Section 404/401 permit applications.
Serve as a primary liaison with federal, state, and local agencies on environmental permitting and compliance matters.
Guide the development and implementation of wetland restoration, mitigation, and monitoring plans.
Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level staff.
Utilize GIS and data management tools to support project planning and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KPFF Seattle's Civil/Structural Team is composed primarily of structural engineers who design and evaluate infrastructure that connects communities. Located in downtown Seattle, our Civil/Structural Engineering team is seeking a Civil/Structural CAD Drafter/Technician. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in design, planning, and implementation of stormwater and hydraulic elements on transportation projects specific to hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) design.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Engineering in Training certification.
Experience with design of stormwater conveyance, flow control, water quality treatment, and low impact development BMPs.
Project experience with fish passage design projects including H&H modeling, culvert design, stream restoration, and associated civil design.
Design experience using Washington State stormwater design manuals; DOE SWMMWW, WSDOT HRM, WSDOT Hydraulic Manual, WDFW Crossing Guidelines.
Proficiency and experience using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software; MGSFlood, WWHM, Stormshed 3G, and HEC-RAS.
H&H design calculation experience including conveyance sizing, basin hydrology, culvert sizing, and scour calculations.
Experience creating construction plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates.
Working proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Strong communication skills for coordination with clients and team members.

KPFF Seattle's Civil Team designs sites that enable land to be developed for commercial, residential, institutional, and recreational purposes.
