The LGBTQA+ Center is seeking a Graduate Student Intern that will work with the LGBTQA+ Center director on outreach, staff management, training, and development of educational programs for the campus community. The Graduate Intern will connect students to resources; plan and develop programs; co-facilitate trainings and discussions; perform basic web maintenance and social media management; and help organize a weekly newsletter. As a member of the Teaching Artists chapter of the UFT, rates, fees and scopes of work are pre-determined, outlined in the collective bargaining agreement, and guide the structure of the work.
Teaching artist trainee/candidates who successfully move forward through the initial screening process will be invited to a four-day mandatory training session on Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7, from 9:00am-4:00pm . The Corporate Finance Intern will be responsible for supporting the State and Local Tax group at our headquarters in New York City.
Requirements:
State & Local Tax (85%):
Assist in gathering and compiling apportionment data to be used in the preparation of State & Local income tax returns.
Prepare state income tax return calculations and forms in software for selected state tax filings.
Handle administrative tasks associated with state tax filings in 50 jurisdictions, such as mailings, processing payments, copies, scanning, corresponding to notices etc.
Assist with quarterly and year-end state income tax provision.
Assist with other state projects like planning, automation, research tax law changes, mergers and acquisition, filing short period returns, process improvements, etc.
Assist with sales and use tax research, month end compliance and special projects, such as refund claim preparation Assist with ad hoc property tax projects
Work on an Action Learning Project (ALP) to be assigned at the beginning of the internship and present results at the end of the internship
Federal Tax, International Tax and Planning (15%):
Assist in compiling and updating data to be used in periodic estimates and US federal income tax return filings
Assist in the preparation of pro forma federal income tax returns for entities included in the consolidated US group.
Assist in the organizing and drafting of international disclosure statements on US federal income tax return
Work with Manager, Tax Planning and Support to develop streamlined subsidiary reporting of corporate transactions
Assist with various ad hoc international tax and planning projects
Qualifications:
Current or recent student pursuing a graduate degree in Accounting or Tax
Proficient in Google Suite
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
Exposure to the area of tax and OneSource tax software a plus
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $20.00 - $30.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Daily cleaning of all equipment and areas as assigned
Clean exhaust hoods, including filters, when necessary or assigned

Work within his/her area as assigned by supervisor
