Pacific Architects and Engineers company history timeline

1955

September 15, 1955 – Edward Shay founds Pacific Architects & Engineers, Incorporated in California as an architectural and engineering firm assisting the United States government effort to rebuild Asia in the wake of World War II.

1958

1958 – PAE expands into operations and maintenance with its support of the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Japan and Korea.

1963

1963 – PAE is awarded the first of twelve successive contracts in the Vietnam War, becoming the first civilian contractor in a combat zone to conduct facilities engineering for the United States government.

1968

1968 – The countrywide support structure of 104 bases and camps and over 30,000 employees that PAE has throughout Vietnam establish it as one of the primary contractors developing engineering and logistics infrastructure.

1972

1972 – PAE brings its expertise home with its operation of the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory in Point Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost point of the United States.

1975

1975 – PAE employees are among the last Americans to evacuate from Saigon, by helicopter, from the roof of the United States Embassy.

1984

1984 – PAE expands into Latin America with operations and maintenance for the Regional Military Center in Trujillo, Honduras.

1987

1987 – PAE trains sailors in critical job functions of expeditionary warfare for the United States Navy at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California.

1996

1996 – Supporting United States efforts to foster democracy in the Balkans, PAE recruits and deploys election monitors and governance experts.

2001

December 31, 2001 – PAE is the first contractor to arrive in Afghanistan in support of the United States government.

2013

2013 – PAE acquires Computer Sciences Corporation’s Applied Technology Division, adding facilities management of NASA’s Johnson Space Center to the PAE portfolio of contracts.

2014

2014 – PAE fights on the front lines against Ebola with a USAID logistics support contract in Liberia.

2017

June 13, 2017 – PAE acquires FCi Federal, a leading provider of adjudication support and process management services for the federal government.

2018

February 2, 2018 – PAE acquires Macfadden & Associates, a leader in international disaster response support.

2020

February 10, 2020 – PAE goes public.
