Cons of working at PacBio

1.They believe they can increase their sales of products to the target audience of research labs and scientists by investing in organizing concerts and paying off celebrities/singers, followed by laying off their technical workforce. (Basic marketing skills in question.) 2. There is less focus on adopting DEI initiatives. 3. Layoffs occur every six months. 4. Upper management exhibits nepotism towards people from the Bay Area (headquarter) more than the San Diego office, leaving no scope for innovation. Middle management doesn't do a good job to advocate for individual contribution to the upper management. If you are from San Diego you have to work harder than from Menlo Park office to get visibility. 5. Middle and some people in upper management will walk by you without greeting back, even if you try to smile and greet them. Initially, I thought it might be a cultural thing, but observing them interact with direct reports only and not with people below them indicates that they have a vertical hierarchy in place.

Pros of working at PacBio

Cutting edge technology but I worry to be in the hands of wrong and incapable management.
