Pacific College of Oriental Medicine company history timeline

1986

Pacific College of Health and Science was founded in 1986 to provide traditional Chinese medical and Asian bodywork therapy education to students from around the world.

1989

In 1989, the college presented the first Pacific Symposium.

1990

In 1990, the college achieved accreditation and California state authority to offer the master’s degree in traditional Oriental medicine.

1993

In 1993, in response to New York’s new regulations allowing acupuncture schools, Pacific College opened a branch in the Flatiron district of Manhattan.

2000

Responding to similar new acupuncture legislation in Illinois, the college opened a branch in Chicago in 2000.

2008

According to a nationwide government survey released in December 2008, approximately 38% of United States adults aged 18 years and over and approximately 12% of children use some form of CAM.

According to the “Deloitte 2008 Survey of Health Care Consumers,” 20% of consumers report treating a health problem with an alternative approach to conventional medicine such as acupuncture, while 40% indicate that they are open to doing so in the future.
