Brian Abrahamson is the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. As CIO, Brian is accountable to the Laboratory Director to continuously improve the deployment, use, management and protection of information resources to increase research productivity and operational effectiveness of PNNL. As a member of the Laboratory's senior management team, his responsibilities include: Determining PNNL IT investment strategies and priorities, and monitoring effective control of the cost, schedule, and performance of IT investments and corresponding projects. Maintaining a strategic plan that links IT planning and investment decisions to DOE-wide and PNNL–specific missions and goals, and establishes overarching IT goals, objectives, and measures. Representing PNNL interests concerning information technology to the Department of Energy and to other federal and state agencies. Prior to returning to his home state of Washington and joining PNNL in 2011, Brian acted as CIO and chief architect for San Francisco-based Pacific Gas and Electric Company, one of the nation's largest investor-owned utilities. Prior to that he spent 10 years with the management consulting organization Accenture where he worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies, as well as several years working in industry. Brian holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Gonzaga University.

In his current position as Associate Laboratory Director of the National Security Directorate, Dr. Tony Peurrung oversees the portfolio of national security programs and commercial enterprises at PNNL. Under his leadership, PNNL delivers scientific insights, tools and methods to deploy impactful science and technology to clients in the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and the National nuclear Security Administration. Dr. Peurrung has contributed to a variety of fields within fundamental and applied physics including fluid mechanics, plasma physics, medical physics, separations science, environmental remediation, nuclear physics, and radiation detection methods and applications. His current research interests are centered on detection and characterization of special nuclear material, particularly problems where strong links to fundamental science capability are important. At PNNL since 1994, he has served as the Director of the Physical and Chemical Division, Technical Group Manager in the Radiological and Chemical Sciences Group, and prior to that held positions of Staff Scientist and Senior Research Scientist. He managed an internal capability-building investment, ''Radiation Detection Material Discovery'' which held the goal of improving the understanding of radiation detection material performance to enable the discovery of new and improved materials. He also held leadership positions in both the DOE Radiation Detection Panel and the DHS radiological and nuclear countermeasures program. Dr. Peurrung holds 4 patents, and has been an invited speaker at 15 conferences. He has 45 publications, has authored or coauthored 23 DOE reports, and holds memberships and leadership roles in many prestigious organizations. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 1987.
