Perform duties of the dispatcher for Empire's assigned work area. Use discretion and judgment to solve client disputes and dispatch system problems. Professionally assist clients to enhance a positive service image within the department. Determine shipment, delivery, and pickup priorities. Oversee scheduling transport shipments and meet delivery commitments. Assist in the most efficient use of drivers and equipment. Maintain cost control for overtime and expenses. Maintain the proper mix of company and for hire trucks on the road at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversee dispatching of Empire trucks locally, statewide, branch-store and/or nationally for assigned work area. Assign tractors and trailers according to the type of load, point of origin, and destination. Oversee drivers' activities and offer assistance as needed. Ensure the staff is on task with their duties. Oversee the expenses and recovery of the permits and escorts. Oversee the communications between the clients and drivers for assigned work area.
