YOUR ROLE: Responsible for manual loading and unloading of freight with the use of a pallet jack, hand truck or forklift, general labor and warehouse maintenance. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? * Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times. Distribute work assignments, provide direction and train assigned team. Oversee responsibility for at least one major account and be effectively cross trained on all others to fill in as necessary. * Manage cargo from incoming trucks by removing from truck by hand or using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack, or by using forklift. * Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, knowing when to refuse or accept with notation. Record receipts to appropriate forms and/or log books. Verify proper documentation is attached and resolve discrepancies. * Operate vehicle to transport materials to and from specified destinations in a safe and efficient manner. Perform all forklift requirements, including heavy and oversized pieces. Develop load plans for trucks and containers, and anticipate equipment needs for a shipment. * Sort cargo received by account or intended location and store in proper location. Ensure that freight is labeled accurately to destination. * Oversee the special handling requirements and necessary documentation related to special cargo, including hazardous or sensitive materials. * Assume light packing duties and assist in export boxing area when needed. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? * Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED; Minimum three years related experience. Minimum six months supervisory experience. Minimum two years industry experience, preferred. * Skills: Forklift Driver Certification; Valid state issued driver's license, preferred. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to drive and/or operate heavy equipment. Ability to operate forklift, hand truck and pallet jack. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. * Characteristics: Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and requests for service and assistance. Ability to command and control workflow processes. Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documentation. Handle all product and/or materials in bulk form. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Move product within the facility as directed. Move pallets of finished products, bins, and packaging supplies as directed. Move equipment as directed. Must weigh and record weights as directed. Maintain even and constant flow of product. Keep records as required. Operate equipment in a safe, efficient manner. Make sure the forklift/pallet jack is in good running condition and report anything that is wrong to the forklift mechanic. May be asked to rotate to a different area of the plant (same position and shift) based on business need. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate a forklift/pallet jack. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 60 lbs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must be willing to train in forklift/pallet jack operations to obtain forklift/pallet jack certification. Must be willing to train and learn how to use the bin dump attachment on forklift. Must be able to fill out Forklift Reports. Must be able to do Material inventory ( Bags, Pallets, Bins and boxes). Must be able to operate forklift/pallet jacket safely at all times inside/outside facility. May be required to work overtime or Saturdays depending on business need.
