Job Title: Material Handler/Water Spider Reports to: Production Supervisor 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday with occasional required overtime hours including on Saturdays. Summary: Responsible for keeping workstations fully stocked with materials, thus controlling the continuous flow of productivity, assuring that the daily production and on-time-delivery schedules are met. The Material Handler is a fast-paced environment position requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork and the ability to organize and prioritize. The primary function will be the coordination and delivery of component parts necessary to sustain manufacturing operations while performing material handling duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Supports all Production Operators and ensures they never have to leave their workstation for any materials or tools. * Conduct changeovers and re-fills of adhesive materials in a timely manner. * Properly and safely, clean material containers at wash station. * Retrieve and organize crates and/or carts as required. * Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner on stock shelves, racks or other areas. * Keeps the flow in the factory clean and smooth by taking on the occasional tasks (tasks that do not happen every cycle, only required as needed). * Marks stock items using identification tags or other labeling equipment. * Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations. * Issues or distributes materials, products, parts, and supplies to appropriate departments or individuals. * Examines and inspects materials for defects, reporting any issues to supervisor. * Assist in 5S, continuous improvement and Lean activities proactively and as assigned. * Maintains a clean, safe, organized and efficient work area. * Disposal of hazardous waste in appropriate waste container and transport to central accumulation area * Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (half or full-face respirator). * Performs other duties as assigned. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times, such as working collaboratively, providing timely communication and instruction and assisting with operations as necessary. Execute various manual labor functions such as picking inventory, counting cargo, product and material and hand staging and loading goods; use manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack. Operate hand tools to close or open bales, build or tear down crates, and other containers or material; packaging can be advanced or non-standard. Captures and uploads pictures of loaded freight, heat treated pallets and dangerous goods labels when needed, pictures of trailers with seal applied when dispatcher is unavailable Collaborates with the customer and CS team regarding outbound shipments and provides carrier updates Locks and Chocks trailers before loading and removes locks and chocks upon completion; perform dock audits for each truck loaded Coordinate receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within assigned area. Prepare and assemble orders, move materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other areas. Manage sorting and placement of materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, product code and related characteristics; tend to be more more complex or in multiple cells or operations and fully trained. Potential opportunity to serve as a lead operator in less complex, smaller teams or standard operations. Assist with training and providing basic work instructions to new hires or transfers. Operate a forklift when required and is fully trained and operational; may not perform the most complex, heavy or oversized transports. Complete or verify appropriate forms, documents, labels and other information to ensure the accuracy of inventory, monitor and track material and successful receiving and/or delivery of goods; involves knowledge of several operations or varied goods and services. Identify potential operational or service concerns, notify appropriate co-workers and assist with resolving. Monitor various warehouse maintenance tasks, including sweeping floors, cleaning docks, proper storage of equipment, basic preventative maintenance and related tasks. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED; Typically at least two years of warehousing or related logistics experience, or successful completion of a rotation program. Credentials: Forklift Certification typically required in most operations within 3 to 6 months of hire; Valid state issued driver's license preferred. Skills: Ability to operate hand and power tools, including hand truck, pallet jack, and related warehouse equipment; Basic proficiency in Internet, web-based and job specific software applications; Ability to become forklift certified Characteristics: Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs; Ability to perform in a team environment. REPORTS TO: Operations Manager MISSION: The Truck Loader is responsible for facilitating and assisting all operations involving loading materials on trucks for delivery. This responsibility includes order fulfillment, load inspection, material counts, inventory control, and general customer service. Safe and efficient forklift operation is essential to the position. Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures that all delivered orders are loaded on time, accurately, and in full with the appropriate protection against the weather. All orders must be handled with care to eliminate damage to the product. All orders must be tagged and banded appropriately. Millwork items should be shrink-wrapped. Failure to do so will impact the employee's monthly bonus. Materials should be loaded on trucks in the most efficient manner possible, so they are not damaged under the weight of other materials or by strapping. Truck weight and safety requirements must be satisfied, and the load distribution should be considered. First loads should be loaded so that trucks can leave by 7am unless otherwise approved by management. Assists customers and coworkers by helping locate and load orders for pick up or delivery, checking in returns, checking in transfers, and answering general questions. All paperwork corresponding to orders, transfers, and credits must be turned in daily to your manager. Drivers and customers must have the appropriate paperwork before they are loaded or unloaded. Pictures should be taken and loaded into BisTrack for received transfers and when BCI orders are loaded. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the staging yard. All stock and special-order items are to be tagged and in their correct place. Stock should always be stored properly, and material should be kept out of the weather when damage results from not doing so. Overstock and credits should be put away in a timely manner. Trash should be swept up and trash cans emptied. Cull items should be taken out of stock quickly and placed in the auction pile. Inventory discrepancies and shortages should be reported to management immediately. Communicates via phone and radio with management, sales staff, yard staff, drivers, and customers as required to ensure accurate and timely processing of all operations. Notifies the appropriate team members when back orders, delays, damaged products, shipping errors, or picking errors occur to ensure the proper reorders and handling occurs. Adheres to all general and safety guidelines and reports any issues to management immediately. Report any equipment failures and maintenance needs to your manager. Maintain a positive relationship with all employees, customers, vendors, and delivery personnel. Maintain a professional dress code with a Talbert logo on the shirt. Complete special projects at the direction of your manager.
