GENERAL
The primary responsibility of the Truck Driver is drive to places of business and other locations to load and transport electronic material back to the warehouse for further processing. The Truck Driver will interact with business customers while out on location and work to ensure excellent customer service is provided. The Truck Driver will report directly to the Assistant Manager and occasionally directly to the General Manger.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Other:
Six months related work experience performing truck driving and/or material distribution in an industrial setting preferred.
Sufficient math skills as measured by Agency normed tests to perform duties involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, simple fractions, calculation of percentages, weigh counting and linear measurement.
Reading skills sufficient to follow and/or complete written instructions, behavioral programs, memos, purchase orders, and shippers.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with customers, staff, participants and the public.
Driving record must meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier.
Valid Michigan driver's license: chauffeurs license required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pickup electronic material from business customers.
Consolidate and transport electronic material from various parts of buildings to staging area (i.e. dock or parking lot) using pallets, gaylords, flat-bed carts and other methods.
Stack, consolidate and package electronic material for loading onto truck.
Utilize liftgate to load electronic material onto the truck.
Drive 26ft box truck in order to transport materials.
Load and unload delivery trucks using pallet jack, power jack and forklift.
Check incoming and outgoing materials against shippers to verify quantity and quality. Count, weigh, and record quantity of raw, in process, or finished materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental conditions:
Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Ability to work in a confined area.
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Work involves lifting, pulling, pushing and transporting work materials with weights up to 70 pounds between above shoulder and ground level.
