As a Shipping Loader, you will be responsible to make sure that all units are banded properly and have a clearly visible load tag on them when being loaded and that there are no broken or missing straps on the units. Staging units in the warehouse load & unload trailers in a safe and efficient manner. Position will also be responsible to perform a visual quality inspection on items and ensure that units and truck counts are accurate, on the correct trailer & carrier, also that all paperwork is accurate. This position performs our last visual quality inspection of all items loaded & unloaded. This position will be responsible for operating a sit-down propane forklift throughout their entire shift. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION Operate a sit-down propane forklift safely & effectively. Able to keep up, taking product off the out-feed line, staging it neatly on the floor and picking it up and loading it neatly and securely in a trailer. Scan all units to trailer. Able to follow proper procedures for staging units, loading units, handling overruns Read and understand the order instructions and load tags. Must understand unitizing and palletizing information & corrugator flutes so product can be loaded properly per customer specific instructions. Able to do basic math, to know trailer size and to read a tape measure to utilize trailers to max MSF per truck. Understand shipment planning, documentation, & the importance of only having one Partial order on a truck. Ability to organize the dock to eliminate units from small orders being mixed with large orders not being loaded. To ensure all scrap is picked up and weighed, particle units are banded, and the knowledge of loading scrap bales in proper trucks. Raisings and lowering of dock plates, safeguarding with chain for dock doors, and to report any damage. Be proficient in using chocks, glad hand locks, and lock out when straight trucks are being used. To follow all safety rules and to be able to do forklift inspections. All and any defects found must be reported immediately. Must be able to work as a team and ability to get along and have a good working relationship with other employees. Comprehend instructions given by supervisors. Take responsibility for communicating with other shift employees how job is running, problems, adjustments, etc. Follow all safety and company policies and procedures including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assigned. Handle forklift responsibly and take ownership in maintaining and upkeep forklift in good shape. Attendance must be exemplary at all times. Must be able to work flexible hours and/or extended hours.
