Purpose Statement The Material Handler will coordinate the flow of raw materials, work in progress, and the finished product effectively and accurately. Key Accountabilities and Outcomes * Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with housekeeping safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements. * Adhere to GMP guidelines for personal practices regarding hygiene and cleanliness. * Hand-stacking of individual cakes (eaches) to build pallets. * Assist with manual conversion of eaches into cases using case packing equipment as necessary. * Assist with Palletizer and Shrink Wrap operations as necessary. * Keep work area clean. * Provide coverage in other departments when needed. * Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience * Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). * Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Ability to read, write, and communicate about work instructions and safety information written in English. * Must have the ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, other employees in the organization and vendors. * Must possess basic math and computer skills. * Able to work with minimal supervision. * Skilled and Certified in Forklift Operation. * Punctual and reliable work attendance. * Ability to work as a team player. * Self-motivated, able to take initiative and use sound judgment in day-to-day decision making. * Professional and reliable with strong organizational and communication skills. * Due to variability in the business needs, flexibility in working mandatory weekends and holidays is a requirement of this position. * Ability and desire to train other associates. * Previous material handler experience preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Moderate degree of physical activity and coordination required. * Continuous standing and frequent walking. * Continuous pushing/pulling/lifting/reaching. * Work in moderately loud environment. * Able to work in a cold environment (-20 degrees Fahrenheit) with proper PPE. * Works near moving mechanical parts. * Vision requirements: Requires distance vision, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. * Must wear PPE and GMP appropriate for the position: protective eyewear (when needed), non-slip footwear, hair net, beard net (if applicable), nitrile food-grade glove. Purpose Statement The Material Handler will coordinate the flow of raw materials, work in progress, and finished product effectively and accurately. Key Accountabilities and Outcomes Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with housekeeping safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements. Adhere to GMP guidelines for personal practices regarding hygiene and cleanliness. Hand-stacking of individual cakes (eaches) to build pallets. Assist with manual conversion of eaches into cases using case packing equipment as necessary. Assist with Palletizer and Shrink Wrap operations as necessary. Keep work area clean.
