Visually examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments and personnel as needed. Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders. Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity; placing materials in stock. Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers. Nails covers on wooden crates, binds containers with metal tape and/or plastic pallet wrap as needed. Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet special shipping instructions and Sales Order notes. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
