We are seeking Machine Operator applicants on 2nd shift (1 Opening) in our Akron, OH facility. The salary range is $20.62 - $26.18 per hour + shift differential. Responsibilities: Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste. Setup, operation, feeding of machinery and stacking of boxes. Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work. Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures. Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards. Other duties as assigned. May be required to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours. Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating plastic extruder machine including setup, operation, quality checks, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations to meet customer demand. Third shift position, Sunday - Thursday, 11p-7a. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work safely at all times, be aware of surroundings and understand and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules, operating procedures, and help hold co-workers responsible for safety related items. Participate in Plant Safety Committee. Follow at all times GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes) Perform a range of production support responsibilities, to include various appropriate machine adjustments and a range of maintenance tasks. Must be comfortable with the use of touch screen controls. Support start-up operations by stripping, preparing, setting and changing rolls, ink, or other raw materials to manufacture the product. Gather finished product from machines and box, bag or package as required First roll out quality check and on-going inspections checking the condition and quality of the finished product and remove any that do not meet our quality standards and confirm there are no process changes or quality issues. Maintain accurate count of product when packing or bagging, as well as, keeping pace with the varying production speeds/levels Secure cases to prevent shifting or moving by stacking them in an orderly manner The operator must have basic reading and math skills. Mechanical and problem solving abilities are necessary. Responsible for equipment set up and productivity. Check job order and set machine according. Learn and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies. Stop bad quality from leaving the facility to the Customer. Catch it on the front end of manufacturing the product. Strong attention to detail for poor quality; prevent bad quality being sent to customer. Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the extruder or rewinder machinery at available capacity and speed. Improve set up times daily, improve downtime daily. Identify and address mechanical concerns and report to Production Supervisor or Production Manager or Plant Mechanical Tech/Specialist Housekeeping and cleaning of work areas - keep clean and free of tripping hazards during shift and end of shift cleaning of the area. In addition, good housekeeping of areas employee utilizes; break rooms, bathrooms, refrigerators etc. Learn and understand capability and capacity of machine and drive efficiencies limiting waste and downtime. Do not sacrifice quality for machine speeds - must have both excellent quality and high efficiencies with minimal downtime. Train and assist Assistant Machine Operators and Production Utility with job duties on the machine, downtime, setup times and quality. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Cross-train on other machines and learn other positions in the plant. Switch duties with co-workers as necessary. Title: Clamp Truck Driver - 2nd Shift Reports to: Department Supervisor or Superintendent The Clamp Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, stacking, and storage of large, heavy rolls of paper, bundles of corrugated sheets, and finished goods within the manufacturing facility and warehouse. This role is critical to maintaining smooth production flow and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Roles and Responsibilities Safely and proficiently operate a clamp forklift to move, stack, and retrieve various forms of paper and corrugated products. Load and unload inbound paper rolls from trailers; stage rolls for machines based on production schedules. Move finished corrugated bundles and stacks from production areas to the warehouse. Ensure products are stored in designated locations, adhering to FIFO inventory principles. Conduct pre-shift inspections of the clamp truck (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, clamp mechanism, horn, lights) and complete inspection checklists. Report any mechanical issues immediately to supervision or maintenance. Handle materials with extreme care to prevent product damage (e.g., crushed cores, tear damage, carton damage). Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the roll storage area, warehouse, and shipping docks. Complete necessary paperwork, logs, or use an RF scanner/WMS (Warehouse Management System) to accurately track material movements and inventory. Communicate effectively with supervisors, production operators, and shipping personnel to coordinate material needs and movements. Additional duties may be assigned by management Skills and Qualifications Minimum of 1-3 years of proven experience operating a clamp forklift in a high-volume manufacturing or warehouse setting, preferably within the paper, packaging, or heavy industrial sectors. Current and valid powered industrial truck (PIT) certification and/or the ability to pass an in-house certification program specific to clamp truck operation. Thorough understanding of industrial safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, pedestrian safety, and safe operation near heavy machinery. Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating the lift. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 lbs occasionally. Basic reading, writing, and math skills to interpret production schedules, complete documentation, and verify inventory counts. Must be able to work in a loud, dusty, and non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in the corrugated box, paper mill, or printing industry is highly desirable. Experience using an RF scanner and/or a Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inventory transactions. Knowledge of proper freight loading and securement techniques. Working Conditions & Schedule Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, dust, and forklift traffic. We are seeking Machine Operator applicants on 2nd shift (1 Opening) in our Akron, OH facility. The salary range is $20.62 - $26.18 per hour + shift differential. Responsibilities: Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste. Setup, operation, feeding of machinery and stacking of boxes. Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work. Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures. Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards. Other duties as assigned. May be required to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours. Basic Qualifications: 3 yrs previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment. High School Graduate or GED. Able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check. Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
