Packaging engineer job description

Responsibilities:

This job will require development of advanced wafer-level packaging solutions for semiconductor devices for various market segments.

It will also involve the development of wafer bumping and fanout processes for heterogeneous integration packaging and chiplet based solutions.
The packaging solutions will need to meet demanding product requirements while balancing the need for reliability and cost.
Candidates will work with product groups on designs for new packages to support product development activities.
They will work closely with cross functional teams to understand packaging needs, identify customer requirements, and resolve complex problems.
Develop advanced packaging solutions including package design, material selections, fabrication processing, qualification, and documentation
Interface with subcontractors to define and document processes, deliver designs, and implement tooling.
Work with the quality and reliability groups to establish the reliability criteria.
Support reliability work with qualification builds, board design/fabrication, and assembly.

Assist in the establishment of packaging technology roadmaps.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree with 3-7 years experience in related area (package engineering, process engineering, development engineering)
Knowledge of wafer processing is important.
Understanding of IC packaging materials, including mechanical behaviors, packaging structures and manufacturing processes is beneficial.
Experience with Cadence and basic knowledge of mechanical simulation tools is a plus.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate Lead low risk Green Belt projects Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components Design for transport efficiency Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations Develop kitting packaging Validate returnable quantities through simulations Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements Audit conformance to packaging specification Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E)

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent degree2+ years of industrial packaging design experience Ability to perform data query analysis (i.e. SAS, business objects)1+ years project management experience

Job Description:


Manage the design/plan/validation and implementation of new packaging technologies, line extensions, package/product improvement and technical service for Treehouse Foods that meet product offering requirements.


Position Responsibilities:


Executes moderate to complex technical assignments including cost savings, quality improvements, operation support and new product development Uses technical expertise on cross-functional project teams and technical oversight of internal and external manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical service to independently determine and develop technical approach to solutions on product development teams Functions as the Technical Leader for focused projects, providing direction and monitoring various associates, support groups or contractors as project dictates. Identifies and resolves technical conflicts, including resources, to ensure projects meet business expectations Design, execute and analyze experimentation Support on-going business projects, from start to finish, including project development, specifications, in-process control points, testing requirements, operating guidelines, trials, execution and maintenance.
