The Position

About You:
The?Packaging Technician is responsible for performing a variety of fundamental and supportive tasks befitting a production brewery, including canning, bottling, kegging, wort production, cellar work, and general housekeeping operations, with assistance in maintenance duties and other departments as needed.
This position will?report directly?to the Head Brewer, ensuring implementation of all standard operating procedures to maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency throughout the production process. A thorough understanding of all aspects of beer production, including CIP procedures, safety, packaging, yeast wrangling, wort production, and QA/QC is required.
Essential?Job?Functions:
Adheres to and advances all safety protocols set in place by the Owner and Head Brewer
Leads packagingoperations, including can, keg, and bottle filling; labeling; palletizing; wrapping; and warehousing
Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment as assigned
Performs beer production operations, including?cellar?and laboratory processes, vessel CIP, wort production, and other beer production tasks
Assists in and performs essential warehousing functions, including accepting and fulfilling shipments, and inventorying materials
Supports fellow brewery staff in their respective responsibilities as assigned by the Head Brewer
Maintains detailed records and quality control reporting
Maintains inventories of raw and finished goods
Participates in festivals and promotional events as needed
Keeps a flexible schedule to accommodate demands of a growing production brewery
Understands that additional duties may be assigned as dictated by circumstance
Required Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
At least two years of professional experience in a brewing or food/beverage processing facility
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and more) and Internet browsers
Strong mechanical aptitude
Able to mentor and train less experienced brewers in the?cellar?and brewhouse
Integrity, punctuality, reason, patience
?Ability to?help?with other aspects and various areas of the business as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Education in brewing or packaging science, or a degree in Science, Maintenance, Engineering, or a similar field?preferred.
Prior experience operating equipment including forklifts and skid steers. The Company will provide additional training and certification.
Enthusiasm for craft beer and a commitment to understanding and supporting beer quality
Mental and Physical Requirements:
The ability to work unsupervised while maintaining established safety and quality standards
A desire to learn and demonstrate best practices and assist in developing a quality-oriented standard of protocol in a new brewery setting
An understanding of Lock Out / Tag Out, Confined Space Entry, and other important core safety protocols
The capacity to manage multiple processes simultaneously and adapt to the irregularities of a shifting production schedule

May be responsible for monitoring the remote Vacuum Pressure Swing Absorption (VPSA) plants on a rotating basis while on call.

* Possess and maintain a valid Alaska Class B commercial driver's license with endorsements and without restrictions required to operate equipment utilized by the Utility division within six (6) months of employment start date. All licenses must be valid and current prior to operating a City vehicle requiring a commercial driver's license. Applicants will be required to submit a Division of Motor Vehicles record upon request. WORKING ENVIRONMENTThe employee must be able to do strenuous work in all kinds of weather (e.g., high temp., low temp., winds, snow, ice, fog, and direct sunlight) and on surfaces at, above, or below floor level. The Position
A PackagingOperator is responsible for the safe and efficient packaging of craft beverages to the standard of quality expected. PackagingOperatorsoperate a variety of machinery and equipment and routinely perform a variety of cleaning duties and light maintenance tasks. Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or anomalies, or loss of efficient operation to Packaging Shift Supervisor in a timely fashion.
Clean equipment, building and floors. Must keep assigned work station clean and organized at all times.
Perform operational check procedures including forklift safety checks, oxygen testing (DO/TPO), code dating, beer approval tasting, and finished product examination and testing.
Ensure finished product (caseware, kegs, labels, etc) is to the standard of quality expected.
Perform appropriate sanitation and cleanliness SOPs including parts cleaning, personal hygiene, and quality assurance.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of the operational equipment in the packaging areas including pumps, valves, and packaging machines.
