They also prepare product to be packed, collated or bound, ensuring that all items produced meet customer specifications. Bindery Operators are responsible for operating equipment such as stitcher/trimmers, cutters, folders, mailers, shrink wrappers and collators to process or finish printed products. These individual positions are distinguished primarily by the differences in equipment and the differing training required for each. This position is on 3rd Shift Monday - Friday from 11 PM - 7 AM. Must be able to work this schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Binds sheets of paper or signatures into complete saddle stitched and trimmed booklets by operating an automated bindery finishing machine. Jogs and cuts paper and board stock to required sizes for printing and cuts and trims finished products using a cutter. Folds sheets of paper into folders or signatures, finished or unfinished, using a folding machine. Operates small binding machines and drills or perform manual binding operations including tabber, laminator, or collator. Reads and understands the job ticket, layout sheet, artwork and other specifications before beginning the assigned job. Asks any questions or reports and problems regarding the assigned job. Sets up, operates and maintains all pieces of equipment which make up a part of the various binding and finishing equipment in a full-service bindery operation. Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed in order to maintain a clean, healthful and safe work area around the binding equipment for employees and customers.     This employee is responsible to set up and operate complex machinery in the Manufacturing Department with minimal supervision according to applicable drawings; must inspect the quality of the materials and work in process as well as accurately complete associated paperwork; must lead the employees of the manufacturing area by example in the areas of attitude, work quality, work ethic, communication, dependability, and company loyalty. This employee will operate in areas of Surmasis manufacturing including Mixing, Coating, and Converting. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Primarily responsible for set-up, run, cleaning and general maintenance of mixing, coating, and/or converting equipment for Surmasis manufacturing activities. * Operator will operate faustel coater, UV Cure line, Delta Modtech Converter/Packager, and Mixing equipment as assigned by management based on team needs and employee skills. * Maintains 100% GMP and Compliance to FDA guidelines during operations and tasks. * Works with a variety of chemicals safely and according to their SDSs. * Verifies all chemicals, mixes, raw/IP/FG materials are properly labeled and are in good condition containers. Ensures material is not expired before material is used. * Verifies that job processes, setups, and drawings are correct before production runs. * Sets up complex machines according to applicable drawings within the defined setup times. * Inspects the quality of the materials and work in process, specifically focusing on quality standard set by manufacturing batch records and specifications. * Troubleshoots and resolves basic machine-related issues which occur during normal operation. * Accurately processes and handles associated paperwork as required for the work being completed. * Completes work in a timely manner according to departmental schedules. * Operates multiple machines fluently with a minimal amount of supervision. * Ability to perform online training independently to stay compliant and fully trained. * Follows and enforces standard operating procedures. * Performs detailed and effective cleaning according to written procedures. * Enforces positive team dynamic in the manufacturing area by exceling in the areas of attitude, work quality, communication, work ethic, dependability, and company loyalty. * Communicates and works together with other departments as required. * Maintains and improves 5S within the work area. * Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
