Mittera is currently seeking a Bindery Operator to join our Finishing team! BIndery Operators perform set-up, adjustment and safe operation of cutting equipment. They also prepare product to be packed, collated or bound, ensuring that all items produced meet customer specifications. Bindery Operators are responsible for operating equipment such as stitcher/trimmers, cutters, folders, mailers, shrink wrappers and collators to process or finish printed products. These individual positions are distinguished primarily by the differences in equipment and the differing training required for each.
This position is on 3rd Shift Monday - Friday from 11 PM - 7 AM. Must be able to work this schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Binds sheets of paper or signatures into complete saddle stitched and trimmed booklets by operating an automated bindery finishing machine.
* Jogs and cuts paper and board stock to required sizes for printing and cuts and trims finished products using a cutter.
* Folds sheets of paper into folders or signatures, finished or unfinished, using a folding machine.
* Operates small binding machines and drills or perform manual binding operations including tabber, laminator, or collator.
* Reads and understands the job ticket, layout sheet, artwork and other specifications before beginning the assigned job. Asks any questions or reports and problems regarding the assigned job.
* Sets up, operates and maintains all pieces of equipment which make up a part of the various binding and finishing equipment in a full-service bindery operation.
* Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed in order to maintain a clean, healthful and safe work area around the binding equipment for employees and customers.
* Records the quantity of good sheets or product finished on the back of the job ticket.
* Records the amount and type of materials used on the job on the time sheet.
* Operate a manual and battery-operated lift jack.
* Maintains quality control at a level that meets or exceeds the demands of the individual jobs.
* Pulls and labels run samples with tags and marks.
* Participates in and/or supports any formal quality programs such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Total Quality Management (TQM), as requested.

Packaging Technicians are responsible for the safe operation of chemical processing & packaging equipment. Overview
Operates and maintains packaging machines and related equipment. Palletizes, stores, inventories, and loads product for shipment in a manner to guarantee quality and safe product to the customer. Unloads incoming materials.

Qualifications

Complete required safety, quality, product sampling, and environmental checks and follow up on any deficiencies;

Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Equipment
Oversee daily packaging operations and ensure safe, efficient use and maintenance of equipment.
Enforce operational safety, compliance, and efficiency protocols.
Product Fulfillment
Prepare and deliver finished goods to Iowa retail locations and fulfill wholesale orders.
Generate compliant shipping manifests for all deliveries.
Inventory & Supply Management
Track packaging supplies and finished goods inventory; coordinate with procurement to maintain stock levels.
Labeling & Compliance
Design, update, and print compliant labels per Iowa and Oregon cannabis regulations.
Ensure label accuracy and alignment with branding and legal requirements.
Retail Support
Assist with in-house packaging at Oregon retail; provide labels and compliance support.
Standardize packaging presentation across locations.
Regulatory Adherence
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure packaging operations meet state cannabis laws.
Maintain documentation and prepare for audits and inspections.
Safety & Cleanliness
Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work area; conduct routine safety checks.
Process Improvement
Optimize workflows and introduce tools or methods to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Communication & Reporting
Collaborate with internal teams, retail partners, and suppliers; report inventory and performance updates to leadership.
Quality Control
Ensure product accuracy in weight, sealing, and labeling, address issues promptly.
Manifest Management
Manage, create, and accept manifests for all locations, train staff and coordinate state approvals.
Oversee product returns and defect resolution.
Cross-Functional Support
Participate in inspections and assist with other facility tasks as needed.
Extraction
Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
Clean glassware and sensitive lab equipment, as well as general cleaning of the lab areas.
Work at an efficient pace in a production environment while gramming out and packaging all concentrate products and vape cartridges
Perform general maintenance of equipment, tools, and workspace.
Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction, including but not limited to dry biomass grinding and fresh biomass packing in a freezer environment.
Working Conditions:
Work duties may require sedentary activities, active standing, stooping and/or kneeling.
The production facility operates 365 days a year with shifts typically occurring between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Job responsibilities occasionally fall outside of typical shifts.
The production facility may have strong odors and varying temperatures due to the cultivation and processing of cannabis.
Employees may be required to work in confined spaces, such as plant growing areas or extraction rooms.
Exposure to potential allergens, such as pollen or plant materials.
The use of chemicals and pesticides is common in a cannabis production facility, which may require employees to follow strict safety protocols and wear PPE.
Noise levels in the facility may be loud due to equipment or machinery operations.
The facility has strict security measures, including video surveillance and restricted access, to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent theft.
Regular cleaning and sanitization of the work area required to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Able to work in low oxygen areas.
Minimum Requirements:
Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 200 lbs with assistance
Perform frequent bending, reaching, and carrying of heavy items
Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
Operate computers, tablets, and related productivity equipment proficiently
Remain in designated work areas for up to 8 hours, excluding legally mandated breaks
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
Accurately record production and test data (ingredients, temperature, cycle times, pressures, test results, etc.)
Must comply with all cannabis industry regulations
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required throughout employment
Ability to follow instructions, absorb training, and communicate clearly
Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and consistent in task execution
Perform other duties as assigned
