Operators utilize a Celli/Rewinder machine to slit and rewind large rolls of our non-woven materials into smaller rolls for transportation to our customers around the world. Operators must understand the various cores used and the different specifications for all product rolls, while taking care to monitor for any defects, wrap rolls with high quality, and apply labels to the rolls with correct details. Utilize the Avanti software to log in specific details and product specifications. Actively watch the material running to identify any defects; must be able to identify the various types of defects. Responsible for flagging sections of jumbo with any defects or issues using proper color code. Operate an overhead crane and vertical wrapper. Change shaft extractors for respective core diameters used. Correctly set knives; must know how to adjust and replace knives as needed. Carry out functions of the wrapper i.e. set Film Tension, replace Shrink Wrap into Carrier, thread wrapper. Read and interpret information on labels; apply labels onto rolls. Identify the different colors of labels and understand the significance of each type. Utilize appropriate cardboard side covers for final product (rolls). Distinguish between an FDA Product and non-FDA product and follow proper FDA rules and protocols when applicable. Collect standard samples and for QA testing. Add re-feed to the machines as needed. Perform manual/automatic operations of the Rewinder. Read, fill and understand Operator Panel. Know parts and locations of Celli operating devises, such as alarms and lock system. Initiate E-Stops under necessary usage conditions. Work across multiple lines, as needed. Perform routine maintenance procedures. Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and utilize proper PPE. Keep work station clean and organized. Other duties as assigned. ABOUT THE POSITION The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. Key Activities & Responsibilities * Knowledgeable in basic machine safety to include proper lifting techniques. * Basic blueprint reading and math skills (basic geometry to figure angles) and decimals and metric conversions. * Knowledgeable and able to use tape measure, combination square, levels and radius boards, etc. * Able to safely use hand tools to include hammer, adjustable wrench, air grinder, pencil grinder, and air wrenches. * Closely monitor machine while in operation, never leaving immediate work area while machine is in operation and be ready to respond to breakdowns quickly in order to shut down machine. * Be able to read cut lists (basic reading skills and knowledge of materials - types of steel). * Able to safely operate cranes and forklifts. * Be able to do some layout work. * Review operator manual(s) for saw, drill, and mill for safe and appropriate operation (to include preventive maintenance). * Communicate with other machine operators and team members to guarantee safety on the floor. * Keep work area neat and clean. * Must follow all Astec, Inc. safety rules and requirements. * Must follow all company policy requirements. Job Description The Machine Operator I position operates equipment within a production line in order to produce, assemble or finish various designs and sizes of garage door components. The successful candidate will be a reliable, self-motivated, results-oriented individual who possesses and utilizes their strong organizational, technical and mechanical skills to motivate those around him/her through exemplary leadership. Major Responsibilities/Activities: Conduct activities by adhering to established procedures and approved processes. Operate relevant production equipment or tools. Fulfill production orders, meet inventory requirements, and produce at the prescribed production rate(s). Capacity to develop knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment and be able to apply this knowledge to the completion of work as assigned. Must be able to measure products per work instructions. Must become familiar with the product's construction and application. Must have the ability to obtain production parts from stock locations and fill out necessary paperwork the transfer stock. Must have the ability to learn computer systems to be able to adjust machinery settings and clear faults on machinery and systems. Understand how to read part order sheets, pick correct parts and install correctly per print instructions Must be able to learn how to operate all machinery and make minor adjustments as needed. Must be flexible in learning various production line processes. Make and produce hand samples, label and package correctly. Learn and operate Paint system and fill in for painters as needed.
