Packaging operator job in Canton, MI
Operate industrial slitting machines to cut steel coils into precise widths per customer requirements. Responsible for machine setup, inspections, documentation, and safe leadership of helper/banding personnel. Pay is $20-$24 BOE Shift is 6:00am-230pm 5-6 days a week
Key Responsibilities
Set up slitter machine using spacers, shims, and rotary blades per work order.
Mount coils, thread material, and operate tension bars/feed rollers.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections per Quality Management System (QMS).
Monitor slit, brake, wrap, and flatness while operating machine.
Guide and coach helpers/banders; ensure safety of full slitter crew.
Record inspection results, create inventory/ship tags, and complete required documentation.
Maintain clean 5S-compliant work area; perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance.
Requirements
Proficiency with tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
Ability to read and interpret work orders/charts.
Understanding of tooling, clearances, and steel cut patterns.

Job Description
The Packaging Technician is a highly organized and motivated individual that assists the Packaging Manager with day-to-day operations. Packaging technicians are hardworking, honest, and dependable members of our team. This position is responsible for compliantly packaging and labeling all cannabis products. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be efficient and focused, and have a passion for working hands-on in the cannabis industry.
Responsibilities:
Preparation and cleaning of boxes, jars, lids, and all equipment used for packaging.
Packaging jars with various cannabis products.
Capping and boxing of Carts.
Operating and working on automated gummy pouching lines.
Maintain a clean and safe packaging facility by proper disposal of waste and keeping work area in pristine condition.
Maintaining strict inventory records of product, materials, and equipment.
Record keeping of all details pertinent to packaging and inventory.
Maintain, clean, sanitize, and properly store production tools and equipment.
Participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Weighs or counts items for packaging and finished goods, to ensure conformance to company standards and verifies all product batches match the correct packaging and labels.
Responsible for maintaining a tour friendly appearance in packaging area and all walking areas in between.
Working collectively and respectfully with other team members.
Enforcing a culture of safety and attention to detail.
Follow all Company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and attend training(s) on new procedures and equipment as needed.
Gather adequate supply of materials needed for daily packaging and follow proper chain of custody procedures (documentation and security) for supplies and ingredients.
Enforce and maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA, GMP and GLP, ensuring proper ingredient/packaging storage and handling. Follow all GMP, HACCP and Q/A processes in the facility.
Assist in other areas of the facility, as needed, and directed by management.
Job Requirements:
Requirements:
2+ years' experience working in a production or manufacturing environment is highly desired.
Experience and background in the cannabis industry a plus.
Excellent communication skills and leadership both verbally and through written media.
Strong number skills and basic math. Experience with inventory is desired.
Detail-orientated with an eye on process improvement and optimization.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high-stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires.
For extended periods, one must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking through the workday.
Must be able to handle constructive criticism and guidance.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
Maintains a professional and positive attitude.
Follow all company standards, state policies and regulations.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be able to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
