The Finishing Operator is responsible for operating finishing equipment to prepare aluminum product for shipping to customer. You will learn to safely operate homogenizing furnaces/cooling chamber, to use band saw, lathes, and other equipment in the finishing area. The Finishing Operator will receive cast product from upstream production and follow the product routing to produce a finished product to the customers spec while meeting production schedules. If you have finishing experience and/or prior manufacturing experience, specifically using band saws and lathes, we do offer wages commensurate with that experience. We have the BEST shifts!! You can work DAY or NIGHT shift. 5am to 5pm or 5pm to 5am, working a rotating shift with two 3 DAY weekends off a month. Rotation allows for OT!! 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on and then 3 days off and the rotation starts over. OT is built into the schedule with additional OT available. We pay for experience, so the wage range starts at $17.50/hour with no experience, and we will train, up to $24.00 /hr (with experience) to start. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management) * Organization and housekeeping of the finishing and ingot storage areas * Receive instruction and necessary information from supervisor and control room operator, primarily working in a self-directed environment. * Loads and unloads homogenization furnaces and cooling chamber in a timely manner and selects appropriate process. * Operate homogenization furnaces and cooling chamber. * Input and monitor information on homogenization furnace and cooling chamber controls * Sets up and operates saw(s) and lathe(s), selecting proper feeds and speeds. * Loads and unloads machines with the aid of a forklift or overhead crane, positioning material as required. * Unload equipment after process and delivers material to next area of operation as required. * Places material cropping and chips in scrap boxes according to alloy. * Inspects the quality of the material during and after processes to make sure the piece is in spec per customer requirements using approved methods and SOP. * Records material dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments and following SOP. * Reports defective material and faulty equipment to the General Manager or Maintenance Department immediately. * Identifies all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary identification when required as specified. * Maintains communication about product schedule with the control room operator. * Aid in scheduling workflow through area * Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, to track products through process. * Performs basic maintenance inspections and care on machines. * Check and maintain all equipment in proper working condition. * Check thermocouples for proper operation and change as required. * Maintains a clean and safe work environment. * Abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules. * Maintain inventory of needed supplies, etc. to perform duties. On initial set-up use precontrolled set-up procedures. Precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and dial indicators must be used. Work with the CNC control panel. Perform Production Run: Place part in holding fixture and clamp in place, start machine by push button, foot pedal or lever. Unclamp and remove part when machine completes operations. Deburr part, assemble parts, weld rivet, Double Disc, Notch the nose, and repeat the cycle. Check parts with gauges provided and record finding on charts. Make all adjustments necessary to ensure parts stay within specified control limits. Simultaneous set-up and operation of multiple machines is required due to long cycle times. Keep coolant and oil levels at the proper levels and concentrations. After hardening is done, check handle alignment and straighten if needed. Check joint tensions and adjust as needed. Weigh gage as needed. Check handle spread and gage as needed. Check nose gap and gage as needed. Rope cut pliers following standard procedures. Re-file as needed. Needle Nose pliers must have the nose adjusted to meet Quality standards. Cell operators will be required to learn all of the jobs that are performed within the work cell. Complete appropriate paperwork and maintain 5S requirements. Qualifications: Requires some initiative and ingenuity to achieve the proper goals. Good ability and vision of adjustments of different characteristics on all pliers needed.
