The Packard Companies company history timeline

1998

In 1998, Dominic Cristini purchased Bioresource and the Packard Plant site.

In late 1998 the company launched a comprehensive review of its operations.

1999

The city even informed tenants they had to vacate the premises by February 1999, so the building could be demolished.

In any event, it was clear that the turn of the millennium marked the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one, for Hewlett-Packard. It announced in March 1999 that as a result of this review it intended to spin off into a separate firm its noncomputing segments: test and measurement products and service, medical electronic products and service, electronic components, and chemical analysis and service.

2002

Hewlett-Packard acquired the Compaq Computer Corporation, a major American PC manufacturer, in 2002.

2004

Kindra joined the Packard Realty family in 2004.

2005

When the supposed benefits of the merger failed to materialize, she was forced out in 2005.

2006

Fiorina was replaced as CEO and president by Mark Hurd, who had been CEO of NCR Corporation. (Hurd added the chairman title in 2006.) During Hurd’s tenure the company began a strategic initiative to expand into the mobile-computing arena.

2007

Nevertheless, the company soon turned its balance sheet around, and in 2007 Hewlett-Packard became the first technology company to exceed $100 billion in sales revenue for a fiscal year (after first passing IBM in revenue the year before).

2008

Whitman retired from eBay in 2008.

2010

After spending a record-breaking $81 million on her primary campaign, she secured the Republican gubernatorial nomination in June 2010.

To that end, in 2010 Hewlett-Packard acquired Palm, Inc., an American manufacturer of personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smartphones.

2011

In early 2011 Whitman became a member of Hewlett-Packard’s board of directors.

2012

In November 2012 Hewlett-Packard accused Autonomy’s management of inflating the value of the company through “accounting improprieties” and announced it would write down Autonomy’s value by $8.8 billion.

2013

7, 2013, but the Tahoe Tavern condominiums remain as a monument to the talented architect’s sensibilities and expertise.

2020

The app was launched in April 2020.
