JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES: The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. Prepares cartons/carton displays, manually packs/palletizes product, and completes final quality inspection of finished goods. * Prepares cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling cartons, securing carton ends together and placing cartons/trays on the work area. Checks to ensure tape guns/taper have sufficient amount of tape. * Visual Inspections of final product packaging for product integrity including, but not limited to bag registration, code dates, prices, bag and cases for proper seals. Removes out of specifications product and communicates packaging problems. * Fills cartons/displays based on packaging specs. Ensures that products are packaged in cases with appropriate corresponding labels; if applicable tapes and seals cartons. * Stacks correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using correct stacking pattern. If applicable, utilizes pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300lbs. * Clears loose product from turntable/area; discards defective bags, boxes, trays; sweeps loose product off the floor. * Assists with product rework according to plant expectations. * Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection. * Keeps work area clean/adheres to 5S protocols. * Stores packaging room supplies in designated areas. * Keeps work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions. * Removes trash from work area floor; keeps turntables/area clean; follows instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes and weights. * Performs sanitation tasks as directed (including, but not limited to equipment washes, seasoner cleanings, and wipeouts). * Prepares line for startup and assist with any equipment changeovers, when applicable. * May operate tray making and/or stapling machines. * Reports any issues to Machine Operators, Group Leader, or Supervisor as appropriate. * May perform other duties as required. * Mandatory overtime may be required. Sets aside defective product for correction or scrapping to make certain that no defective product reaches the customer. Works at an effective and safe pace to keep packing bins or stacking tubes clear. Assists other team members as required, without being asked. Assures smooth flow of product through the packing room by responding to any product jams (bells, buzzers, and lights), clearing the product jam, and restarting the equipment properly and safely. Repackages products that have been mispackaged due to miscounts. Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area at all times. In the event of the absence of the Inspector/Packer due to vacations the Shift Supervisor will request an Inspection/ Packer fill in from another shift. Duties of the packer position include; operating the Chronos Richardson packers to fill 100 lbs. and 50 lbs. bags of flour, operating the Bemis packer to fill 25 lbs. and 27 lbs. bags of flour. Operating the sewing machines to seal bags. Operating and adjusting bag top formers. Operating palletizers. Operating ink jet printers and Label Machines. Position of packer is responsible for weights of bags, sealing of bags, coding of bags, checking to be sure the correct bags are being packed, volume of output and keeping work area neat and clean. Constructs cardboard cartons to contain finished products manufactured, ensuring that proper carton is being utilized. Visually inspects product for Physical foam quality defects through plastic bag. Periodically open random logs of product to perform close visual inspection. Notifies the Production Leader or Production Equipment Operator immediately of any quality defects. Visually inspects Lids product prior to bagging. Preforms fit form and function testing every hour on every running lids mold. Notifies the Production Leader or Production Equipment Operator immediately of any quality defects. Inspects product for Print defects, informs Lead and/or Supervisor of any issues. Will maintain appropriate ink level on running printers as required. Packs product into cartons while ensuring that the correct number of bags of product is packed based on item specifications. Properly seal the carton and apply proper label(s). Move the packed cartons of finished product to the designed stacking area and then place the stacks of cartons together in the correct configuration in preparation for pick-up by the forklift operator. Sets aside defective product for inspection while making certain that no defective product is packed for shipment. Work at an efficient and safe pace packing up to 4 production lines while keeping packing bins at or below 2/3's full. Assures a smooth flow of product through the packing process by responding to bagger jams (bells, buzzers or lights), clearing the product jam and restarting the equipment properly and safely as required to ensure product flow. Follow safety procedures when starting, shutting down, un-jamming or tying the tail on a bagger. Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements and sanitation guidelines rectify and or report all non-compliance to Management along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene. Assists other team members as required, without being asked. Attend meetings as required. Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping work area clean at all times, preforms end of shift cleaning as directed by Supervisor. JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES: The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. Prepares cartons/carton displays, manually packs/palletizes product, and completes final quality inspection of finished goods. • Prepares cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling cartons, securing carton ends together and placing cartons/trays on the work area. Checks to ensure tape guns/taper have sufficient amount of tape. • Visual Inspections of final product packaging for product integrity including, but not limited to bag registration, code dates, prices, bag and cases for proper seals. Removes out of specifications product and communicates packaging problems. • Fills cartons/displays based on packaging specs. Ensures that products are packaged in cases with appropriate corresponding labels; if applicable tapes and seals cartons. • Stacks correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using correct stacking pattern. If applicable, utilizes pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300lbs. • Clears loose product from turntable/area; discards defective bags, boxes, trays; sweeps loose product off the floor. • Assists with product rework according to plant expectations. • Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection. • Keeps work area clean/adheres to 5S protocols. • Stores packaging room supplies in designated areas. • Keeps work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions. • Removes trash from work area floor; keeps turntables/area clean; follows instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes and weights. • Performs sanitation tasks as directed (including, but not limited to equipment washes, seasoner cleanings, and wipeouts). • Prepares line for startup and assist with any equipment changeovers, when applicable. • May operate tray making and/or stapling machines. • Reports any issues to Machine Operators, Group Leader, or Supervisor as appropriate. • May perform other duties as required. • Mandatory overtime may be required. Job DescriptionSUMMARY Duties of the packer position include; operating the Chronos Richardson packers to fill 100 lbs. and 50 lbs. bags of flour, operating the Bemis packer to fill 25 lbs. and 27 lbs. bags of flour. Operating the sewing machines to seal bags. Operating and adjusting bag top formers. Operating palletizers. Operating ink jet printers and Label Machines. Position of packer is responsible for weights of bags, sealing of bags, coding of bags, checking to be sure the correct bags are being packed, volume of output and keeping work area neat and clean. Packers may be assigned other duties as needed by the supervisor.
