JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES:
The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. Prepare cartons/carton displays, manually packs/palletizes product, and completes final quality inspection of finished goods.
* Prepares cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling cartons, securing carton ends together and placing cartons/trays on the work area. Checks to ensure tape guns/taper have sufficient amount of tape.
* Visual Inspections of final product packaging for product integrity including, but not limited to bag registration, code dates, prices, bag and cases for proper seals. Removes out of specifications product and communicates packaging problems.
* Fills cartons/displays based on packaging specs. Ensures that products are packaged in cases with appropriate corresponding labels, if applicable tapes and seals cartons.
* Stacks correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using correct stacking pattern. If applicable, utilize a pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300lbs.
* Clears loose product from turntable/area; discards defective bags, boxes, trays; sweeps loose product off the floor.
* Assists with product rework according to plant expectations.
* Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
* Keeps work area clean/adheres to 5S protocols.
* Stores packaging room supplies in designated areas.
* Keeps work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions.
* Removes trash from work area floor; keeps turntables/area clean; follows instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes and weights.
* Performs sanitation tasks as directed (including, but not limited to equipment washes, seasoner cleanings, and wipeouts).
* Prepares line for startup and assist with any equipment changeovers, when applicable.
* May operate tray making and/or stapling machines.
* Reports any issues to Machine Operators, Group Leader, or Supervisor as appropriate.
* May perform other duties as required.
* Mandatory overtime may be required.

Responsibilities
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
Inspect product to insure quality. Set aside product that is below quality standards. Work closely with Leads and alert Mold Tech and Supervisor of any quality issues or reject conditions. Watch molds for irregularities or sticking. Timely response to quality issues is key to this position.
Complete assembly of product by installing gaskets in lids and handles in containers as required while keeping up with the production machines cycles.
Flame containers and lids when required.
Stack and pack product per instructions that vary with different customers and orders.
Prepare proper product identification and/or packaging labels.
Assist with material handling and other tasks as needed.
When the machine experiences an interruption in production, the Packer/Handler will take this available time to clean up oil, sweep, mop, make boxes or other tasks that may be assigned by the team leader or supervisor.
Accurately complete any required paperwork.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Packs product into previously constructed cartons ensuring that the correct number of bags of product are packed according to product order specifications. Accurately counts the cups into the bag if hand bagging.
Properly seals the carton and supplies proper stamping or labels, making certain that the code date is on each carton, correctly coded and legible.
Sets aside defective product for correction or scrapping to make certain that no defective product reaches the customer.
Works at an effective and safe pace to keep packing bins or stacking tubes clear.
Assists other team members as required, without being asked.
Assists in maintaining the packaging floor. Assures smooth flow of product through the packing room by responding to any product jams (bells, buzzers, and lights), clearing the product jam, and restarting the equipment properly and safely. Repackages products that have been mispackaged due to miscounts.
Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area at all times.
In the event of the absence of the Inspector/Packer due to vacations the Shift Supervisor will request an Inspection/ Packer fill in from another shift.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Packs quality jars of Claussen product at the Standard Pack Rate and/or line rates using the correct pack method. Packing Whole Pickle, Icicle, Mini Dills, Sandwich Slices, Super Slices, Chips, and Spears in 20 oz. jars, 24 oz jars, 32 oz jars, 750 ml jars, Five Gallon Pails, 64 oz jars and 80 oz jars.
2. Understands product specifications and informs Supervisor of Pickle Quality Problems.

8. May be required to collect record and analyze from specific process. Responsible for completing HACCP and process checks as required.

What Will You Do?
Work as a team to safely and efficiently package finished material rolls for shipment to customers.
Monitor rolls for quality.
Band and stretch wrap pallets for shipment.
Learn to operate powered industrial equipment.
Learn how to assist other operators in cutting cores.
What Will Your Work Schedule Be?
Full-Time, rotating shifts and weekends
Requirements
What are the Job Requirements?
Must be at least 18 years old.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Must pass a physical, background check and drug screen prior to start.
Expected to routinely lift 40 lbs or more and be able to lift, bend, crawl, walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to communicate effectively with other employees both verbally and in writing.
Required to adhere to all company policies.
Prior experience in a factory or assembly setting is preferred, but not required.
