As a Packer, this candidate will be responsible for the inspection of finished product prior to being bagged and the placing of the bagged product in boxes, cases and displays. The Packer will assist in ensuring the plant environment meets food safety cleanliness objectives and operates according to the establish safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Packs bags of chips into cartons.
* Assembles cartons, applies stickers and packs cases according to case specifications while verifying the package quality of finished product.
* Performs visual inspections of chips, quality of chips and chip packages and alerts machine operator or shift supervisor / lead of any problems.
* Pours on rework as needed.
* Covers "pick out" lines and recognizes bad product.
* Perform daily sanitation task.
* Perform weekly sanitation task.
* Perform monthly sanitation task.
* Maintain GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
* Maintains and follows all Safety guidelines.
* Maintaining appropriate housekeeping standards.
* Gives lunch and work breaks.
* Trains new packers.
* Requires working proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
* Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.
* Preforms additional duties as assigned.
Starting payrate: $19.22/hour + $.50 per hour for 2nd Shift differential.

Position Summary:

As a Pear Packer you will be responsible for the packing pears into boxes as fast as possible while maintaining the quality of the pack. Pear packers are required to pack all varieties of pears in accordance with customer and industry specifications. Pear packers may be required to work weekends and night shifts depending on the specific fruit season and company needs. All pear packers are required to be available to work any and all packing assignments. Packers are paid piece rate or a minimum hourly rate of $15.74 per hour. Temperatures can be moderate to cool in this indoor work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Wrap and/or pack various varieties of pears by hand into the box/carton, specific label, tray or bag as directed by production management.
Observe fruit for nonconformance to company and customer quality specifications, discard or redirect non-conforming product or materials (leaves).
Pull empty box and supplies in preparation to pack
Pack fruit into cartons with proper alignments, orientations and packs as required by production management/company and customer quality specifications, correcting/repacking underweight or mispacked cartons.
Ensure Consumer bags are filled and closed with correct counts and/or meet designated weight specifications.
Label packed fruit cartons with the proper barcodes as required by production management and company and customer quality specifications

Work as a team with coworkers and follow routine rotations as directed.

Key Responsibilities:
* Complies with all safety processes and insists on safety practices of self and others
* Shows up on time, completes tasks by deadlines, and adapts to changes quickly
* Able to multi-task and keep up with production demands in a fast-paced environment
* Ensures all quality standards and standard operating procedures are followed during production process
* Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area

Required Experience and Skills:
* Must be 18 years or older
* 1 year or more of work experience in any industry
* Basic computer and math skills

* Strong collaboration, communication skills, and is always respectful
Preferred Experience:
* 1+ year of manufacturing work experience
* Machine operation and/or forklift experience
Physical Requirements:
* Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
* Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
* Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
* Working in temperature zones that include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include areas where dust and chemicals are present

Rafting company base in the Clarkston Heights needs a seasonal (mid \-June\-late August) full\-time shopper\/food packer. This position shops and packs food for 2\-4 trips each week that last 4\-6 days. The shopper keeps the warehouse stocked with food, and goes to Costco, local stores as needed to re\-stock. Then the food for each trip is packed into coolers and boxes. The season starts gradually in mid\-June to learn the systems while packing for only one trip per week. Then by early July it ramps up to 2 and 3 trips per week. In mid\-August the pace slows and the position ends in late August (exact end date is negotiable).
Fantastic summer position for a teacher or anyone looking for extra income in a fulfilling work environment.
