Job Purpose The packing department works together to pack finished product, the packing process includes tests, calibrate, and measuring, recording, and checking instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. Job functions Check finished goods to ensure there is no leakage of product before packing the item. Create LPID's using the scanner and label printer at the workstation as well as logging the pallets in the daily production report. Double check the label to ensure it matches the appropriate batch being packaged. Following GMP guidelines package items into boxes, tape, shrink wrap, stack, and palletize. Will obtain training and certification on the pallet jack if placed in a position where the use of pallet jack is necessary. Performs related duties as needed. Skills: Be able to communicate with other team members. Be able to read and understand label and palletizing procedures. Be able to learn different areas of the packing process and department. Push and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly on an 8-hour or more shift. Be able to utilize the electric pallet jack, will receive training. Experience: 2-3 years in previous packing function. Production Packer The Packer is responsible for packaging food products. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Load materials and products into package processing equipment. Press switches and turn knobs to start machines to package products. Observe and listen to equipment to detect possible malfunctions, such as leaks or plugging, and report malfunctions or undesirable tastes to supervisors. Monitor lot numbers, expiration dates and/or manufacturing dates for each product. Mark and label food products, using marking tools. Measure, weigh, and count products and materials. Examine and inspect materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records. Remove completed or defective products or materials, placing them on moving equipment such as conveyors or in specified areas. Seal materials, using a case sealing machine and hand tools. Clean materials, supplies, or work areas, using cleaning solutions and hand tools. Move completed boxes from conveyor line and assemble a pallet of product. Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually. Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
