Utz Quality Foods is looking to grow our loyal, career driven, and customer focused team and is currently recruiting for a Packer to work from our manufacturing facility located in Algona, WA on 2nd Shift. The hours are Monday thru Friday, 2:15pm - 10:45pm, with some Saturdays as needed.
As a Packer, this candidate will be responsible for the inspection of finished product prior to being bagged and the placing of the bagged product in boxes, cases and displays. The Packer will assist in ensuring the plant environment meets food safety cleanliness objectives and operates according to the establish safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Packs bags of chips into cartons.
* Assembles cartons, applies stickers and packs cases according to case specifications while verifying the package quality of finished product.
* Performs visual inspections of chips, quality of chips and chip packages and alerts machine operator or shift supervisor / lead of any problems.
* Pours on rework as needed.
* Covers "pick out" lines and recognizes bad product.
* Perform daily sanitation task.
* Perform weekly sanitation task.
* Perform monthly sanitation task.
* Maintain GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
* Maintains and follows all Safety guidelines.
* Maintaining appropriate housekeeping standards.
* Gives lunch and work breaks.
* Trains new packers.
* Requires working proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
* Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.
* Preforms additional duties as assigned.
Starting payrate: $19.22/hour + $.50 per hour for 2nd Shift differential.

Responsible for case packing produce, salads, and similar product into appropriate sized boxes. Must be able to correctly label the case and accurately palletize product to correct division using daily pick report. Correctly label incoming raw materials and rotate into stock. Decant produce out of cardboard into clean production containers while documenting lot codes. Clean warehouse floors, dump compost/garbage, and load and unload trailers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as part of team to assemble packaging and build crating to prevent damage and protect windows/doors during shipment off site.
Core focus:
Receive and review paperwork from shipping office
Pull appropriately sized cardboard, lumber or other packaging materials, as required
If building a crate, figure out dimensions required and use chop saw to cut lumber to required lengths
Retrieve order of window/door units from storage racks, load onto glass cart and transport to packaging work area
Remove label from window and set aside temporarily
Assembles carton or crate
Secure bottom of carton with staplegun or bottom of crate with nail gun
Place carton over window/lift window into crate
Secure top of carton or top of crate

JOB DETAILS
Base pay starts at $21.50 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Monday-Friday
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as part of team to assemble packaging and build crating to prevent damage and protect windows/doors during shipment off site.
Core focus:
* Receive and review paperwork from shipping office
* Pull appropriately sized cardboard, lumber or other packaging materials, as required
* If building a crate, figure out dimensions required and use chop saw to cut lumber to required lengths
* Retrieve order of window/door units from storage racks, load onto glass cart and transport to packaging work area
* Remove label from window and set aside temporarily
* Assembles carton or crate
* Secure bottom of carton with staplegun or bottom of crate with nail gun
* Place carton over window/lift window into crate
* Secure top of carton or top of crate
* Place product stickers to outside of carton/crate. Mark with necessary shipping information
* Lift, weigh and record information on shipping documents
* Move carton/crate to staging area and complete shipping paperwork; returning paperwork to shipping office
* Enter weight and number of pieces into computer
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
* Ability to visualize and determine appropriate package size
* Ability to safely operate forklift and scale equipment
* Ability to prioritize work tasks according to production requirements
* Ability to visually perceive scratches, irregularities, or other imperfections in materials
