Duties and Responsibilities
* Designs and implements a recruitment process including proactive outreach to campus-based credit and non-credit students, community-based organizations, work experience sites, potential employers, and other partners for holistic student support.
* Provide proactive basic needs advising for a caseload of students fostering an institutional climate supportive of students.
* Provides students with resources to address basic needs and assists students with enrollment and/or application for services.
* Conducts regular meetings with students to monitor their progress and assists in formulating basic needs plans, including access to resources such as food assistance, financial aid, health services, housing, shelter, and childcare. Collaborates with College counselors to integrate a student's basic needs plan into their academic and career plans.
* Collects and analyzes outcome data and prepares reports related to student and program success, including recommendations to address program deficiencies.
* Collaborate with the CARE Team and behavior intervention plan.
* Maintain case management notes and upload documents in appropriate secured database systems.
* Serves as liaison with the University of Hawaii System offices, and University of Hawaii Community Colleges offices, to participate in campus and system collaborations, initiatives, and outreach to promote basics needs programming.
* Work assignments may include evening and weekend hours, and off-campus locations.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or equivalent professional experience supporting college or university students.
Desirable Qualifications
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of community college students and how to support students' success.
* Knowledge of barriers to college-going ambition entry and success.
* Ability to establish and maintain relationships within networks of community-based organization leaders, and public and private social service agency professionals.
* Ability to develop and work in a team environment.
* Knowledge of policies and procedures of the higher education system: Knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures of student admissions, registration, records management, financial aid, and other student support services.
* Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
