Federal Equipment Company is looking for a Painter. The Painter will be responsible for painting in accordance with MIL-SPEC, customer specifications and company requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Cleans parts, manually, or with steam or chemicals, prior to painting or other activities.
Set up, maintain, and operate equipment such as HVLP paint guns (gravity fed and pressure fed equipment) paint mixers, mil thickness gauges and other paint measuring equipment and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
Mix and apply various topcoat finishes within thickness requirements (polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears, (gloss, semi-gloss, and flat finishes)
Identifies and implements practices and procedures to improve production standards (paint yield, efficiency, rework, escape rate, etc.).
Cleans, masks & paints parts per internal/customer process specification along with verbal instructions.
Assists in monitoring shelf life, lot trace including maintaining department min/max inventory levels to ensure product availability (paint, primer, gloves, solvents, etc.).
Selects & mixes coating material along with the basic understanding of various paints, primers & other chemicals associated with defense coatings.

FUNCTION:
Performs all painting operations and related finishing or assembly requirements to customer specifications.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
* Parts are handled, prepared, painted, and assembled to customer specifications and standard shop practices.
* Paint equipment including paint booth is well maintained and problems are proactively reported.
* Parts are finished and coated consistent with best practices, specifications, and aesthetic standards.
* Foreign objects are detected and prevented from contaminating the coating process.
* Coating/Painting quality standards and requirements are met. Deviations and non-conformances are prevented.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Prevents damage and imperfections to painted/finished surfaces including foreign object elimination.
* Determines best application practices for all paints/coatings based upon customer specification requirements and product technical information data.
* Disassembles unpainted parts and accessories as required and reassembles after painting.
* Prepares and applies customer specified coatings to achieve film thickness, gloss, and appearance standards to meet all specifications.
* Keeps paint kitchen, application equipment, paint booth, and paint storage area organized, clean, secure, and consistent with best 6S practices.
* Duties are performed in a safe manner to ensure compliance with safety specifications and environmental requirements.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Demonstrated ability to read paint/coating formulas and mix paint/coatings accurately.
* Thorough working knowledge of surface preparation techniques such as finishing, filler material, sealing, color mixing, and masking.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILL
* Two years expertise as industrial or automotive painter with demonstrated skill in surface preparation, mixing and application of industrial coatings and finishes, setup and operation of HLVP, siphon feed, gravity feed, and pressure feed spray equipment.
* Acceptable visual acuity including color differentiation.
* Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, specifications, and travelers.
* Ability to wear respiratory equipment while painting and preparing surfaces.
RELATIONSHIPS:
* Develops close working relationship with material handlers, quality control and production control personnel.
* Demonstrates a highly cooperative demeanor with other employees and willingly takes the initiative to help others succeed.

Summary
American Fan has an opportunity for a Painter, based in our Fairfield, OH facility. The painter will work with the rest of the team to ensure that the product is driven to successful completion.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect items before, during, and after painting to ensure quality.
Cover areas where paint is not needed using tape, wrap, or other materials.
Follow instructions to mix paints, select tools, and prepare materials for the job.
Check paint thickness and uniformity before final coating or curing.
Use spray painting equipment to apply an even, high-quality finish, and touch up as needed.
Clean tools, equipment, and the workspace after painting.
Safely move items to and from the work area using appropriate tools or equipment.
Track work progress and follow all EPA standards and guidelines.
Uphold FMD's core values of integrity, velocity, and teamwork in all tasks.
Be open to cross-training and assist with other duties as requested by the manager.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
2+ years' experience preferred.
Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
Experience working with MIL-Specs (military specifications).
