Basic Purpose and Function: This skilled manufacturing position is responsible for providing maritime surface preparation and coatings for repairs to ships and boats in the U.S. Navy, U.S Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial vessels. They must be able to complete and execute the assigned work tasks following regulatory specifications assigned to the vessel. Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties): Must be able to manage small teams within your discipline. Applies paint by brush, roller or spray to a uniform finish and film thickness. Observes and records environmental readings. Uses hand and power tools to prepare welds, burn backs, corrosion etc. for paint. Sets up, adjusts, abrasive blast equipment, conventional, and airless paint spray equipment. Sets up a tank or space with proper lighting and cross ventilation. Possesses the ability and experience to certify and to operate an aerial lift. Will be required to be crossed trained as a Competent Person and fire watch.
