As a Painter Spray A - Major Assemblies, you will be essential in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the painting process for our aircraft. Your role will involve collaborating with team members to complete painting assignments while meticulously preparing surfaces to guarantee proper adhesion and finish. Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with employees of varying classifications to ensure the completion of painting assignments for aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles.
Perform touch-up and pickup painting using both spray and brush techniques, adhering to inspection requirements.
Prepare surfaces to ensure proper adhesion, including corrosion removal and paint stripping as needed.
Prepare various paint materials, such as primers, enamels, and lacquers, according to specifications.
Clean and service spray guns, paint tanks, brushes, hoses, and related equipment after use.
Mask and unmask areas to facilitate corrosion removal or painting operations.
Set up all necessary equipment and supplies for painting operations, including fall protection and protective equipment.
Coordinate with safety, environmental, and fire organizations to ensure the shop is prepared for painting operations.
Operate automated spray equipment, such as robots, for preparation and painting tasks.
Operate curing ovens and monitor related equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, including temperature and humidity.
Monitor and maintain time-sensitive materials and processes throughout the painting operation.
Support customer inspections as required and screen work instructions to ensure proper workflow.
Apply decals, part markings, and wrap finished parts or assemblies as required.
Recognize and report any discrepancies or malfunctions in equipment or processes per established procedures.
Obtain and maintain necessary certifications and qualifications for the role, and perform established autonomous maintenance as needed.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

Basic Qualifications:

Install, work from, and remove scaffolding, stages, planks, ladders, jacks, spider staging, and other work platforms.
Drive service truck as required, load and unload materials and supplies.
May operate ladder and boom trucks, and forklift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a painter; OR full journey status as a painter in a union; OR four years of applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. May require valid State of Washington driver's license.

WORK SHIFT Monday - Friday: 6:55 am to 3:25pm Per Diem, Days Onsite POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The individual in this role will perform skilled painting work on interior and exterior of buildings and facilities and perform journey-level duties in skilled painting work. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Paint a variety of surfaces to support UW Medical Center renovation projects. Track time spent on projects, reporting time spent on time sheets. Prepare surfaces for painting or finishing by scraping, sanding, washing, or otherwise removing dirt, grease, old finishes, and rust scale; remove paint from surfaces by using sanders, wire brushes, and paint and varnish remover. Preparatory to painting, make minor repairs in plaster, sheetrock, metal, wood and masonry surfaces by filling with putty, caulks, fiberglass, resin, etc. Apply primers, sealers, stains and undercoats with brushes, rollers, or spray-painting equipment, striping machine, etc.; paint machinery, piping, floors, and walls; apply hi-tech industrial enamels, epoxies. Move furniture, place protective drop cloths; tape baseboards, glass, and other surfaces when needed. Clean brushes, rollers, spray and other painting equipment with water, solvent, thinner or other appropriate cleaners to keep equipment and tools in good working condition; observing safety requirements. Install, work from, and remove scaffolding, stages, planks, ladders, jacks, spider staging, and other work platforms. Drive service truck as required, load and unload materials and supplies. May operate ladder and boom trucks, and forklift. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a painter; OR full journey status as a painter in a union; OR four years of applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. May require valid State of Washington driver's license.
