Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our team. As a Painter, you will be responsible for applying paint, varnishes, and other finishes to surfaces according to predetermined specifications. Responsibilities &
Duties:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed.
Select and mix paint colors to match the desired shade and texture.

Ensure proper application and coverage of paint to achieve a high-quality finish.
Repair and patch surfaces as necessary to create a smooth, even appearance.

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, level one painters will be trained and certified in an assortment of directly associated roles encompassing but not limited to product preparation and setup. These functions typically include paint mixing, equipment maintenance, sanding and filling operations, racking and turning parts, familiarity with process controls and documentation. Level one painters will receive classroom training and on the job experience relative to the paint department and specific to the conventional spray application of primers on a variety of aerospace product using conventional and HVLP equipment in pressure, gravity and siphon fed variants. 0-1 YOE
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
* Perform part preparation including sanding, cleaning, masking, and minor filling as instructed
* Mix primers and related coatings according to established procedures and work instructions
* Set up and maintain paint equipment including spray guns, hoses, regulators, and basic booth components
* Assist in racking, turning, and handling parts to ensure proper access and spray coverage
* Support the application of primers under supervision using conventional and HVLP equipment
* Follow process controls and complete required documentation accurately and on time
* Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with 6S standards
* Learn and follow all safety procedures including proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals
* Assist with basic equipment cleaning and routine maintenance
* Participate in classroom and on-the-job training required for progression within the paint department

The Painter Module C:

Matches colors.
Maintains clean job site throughout duration and cleans up job site following work completion. Maintains safe working conditions for self and others. Stores and maintains supplies, tools and equipment.

Prepares reports and/or maintenance records, as needed.

The Scenic Painter will be responsible for creating detailed and high-quality paint finishes on a variety of scenic elements for custom builds, including backdrops, props, and large-scale scenic structures. This role requires a strong eye for detail, a deep understanding of color theory, and expertise in various painting techniques to achieve specific visual effects for projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Surfaces:
Prepare scenic elements by cleaning, priming, and sanding surfaces to ensure they are ready for paint application.
Apply Paint Finishes:
Use various painting techniques such as sponging, stippling, and airbrushing to achieve desired textures and effects. Accurately mix and match colors to designer specifications.
Texturing & Detailing:
Add texture, patinas, and other detailing to surfaces as needed to achieve realistic or stylized effects. This includes painting wood, foam, metal, and other scenic materials.
Interpret Design Renderings:
Work closely with designers to interpret artistic renderings and replicate specific looks in scenic builds.
Maintain Workspace & Tools:
Ensure that the painting workspace is organized, clean, and stocked with necessary materials. Properly maintain all painting tools and equipment.
Collaborate with Teams:
Work closely with other departments, such as props and fabrication, to complete paint tasks on time and within the project's specifications.
Touch-ups & Repairs:
Conduct touch-ups and repairs on scenic pieces as required before or after installation.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including wearing protective gear and following proper ventilation practices when working with paints and chemicals.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a scenic painter or related role in theater, events, or set design.
Expertise in mixing and matching paints, understanding of color theory, and ability to replicate textures and finishes.
Ability to read and interpret design renderings and blueprints.
Knowledge of various painting techniques and materials, including the use of spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in execution.
Must be able to pass a medical evaluation to wear a respirator.
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights as needed.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work within a team environment.
High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school or apprenticeship is a plus.
