Skilled craft-work preparing and applying paint to exterior and interior surfaces. This entrance level class lies below that of Painter Foreperson.
Essential Functions
1. Prepares surfaces to be painted by removing dirt, scales, rust, old paint, grease, and other materials.
2. Scrubs, pressure washes, scrapes, and sands surfaces.
3. Applies primers and sizing.
4. Patches drywall, plaster, and other surfaces of furniture, equipment, and the interiors and exteriors of buildings.
5. Mixes, tints, and applies paint to furniture, equipment, and the interiors and exteriors of buildings.
6. Erects and dismantles scaffolding.
7. Cleans and maintains rollers, brushes, and spray guns, and makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus.
8. Cleans and maintains work area as needed.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Probation: Six (6) months
Qualifications
Open Requirements: Must have four (4) years of full-time painting experience using tools and equipment of the painting trade such as spray guns, rollers, brushes, paints, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, paint removers, airless sprayers, and pressure washers.

Licensing: A valid Florida Driver's License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class. Depending on assignment, a valid Florida Class D Driver's License may be required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.

Job Description

Adherence to processes defined in Manheim's Body Shop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is required.
Job Responsibilities:
Inspect refinished body panels for proper color match and acceptable finish texture, bringing any quality issues to management's attention immediately.
Prepare surface for buffing utilizing proper finish sanding products and technique (see
SOP).
Restore refinish panel(s) to OEM quality utilizing provided rotary buffer, correct buffing technique, compounds and polishes defined in SOP.
Inspect remaining (not repaired/refinished) vehicle surfaces for overspray and remove as needed.
Remove and clean all compound or polish residue from buffed panels completely and inspect for acceptable finish quality.
Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2 - 5 years of buffing experience or experience working in a body shop/repair preferred. Valid respirator Fit Test required.
Paint Training Certification as defined in HAPS 6H regulation required.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb. Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.

Perform high-quality interior and exterior painting, including walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and specialty surfaces.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching holes, and caulking as needed to ensure smooth finishes.
Select and mix paints and finishes to match existing colors and specifications.
Maintain cleanliness and protection of surrounding areas with drop cloths, masking, and proper containment.
Conduct post-painting touch-ups and inspections to meet Class A commercial standards.
Handyman Duties (Secondary):
Perform minor repairs such as drywall patching, hardware replacement, door adjustments, and ceiling tile swaps.
Assist with maintenance of fixtures, furnishings, and equipment.
Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Conduct regular walk-throughs to identify and proactively address aesthetic and maintenance issues.
Assist with small renovation or upgrade projects.
Indoor and occasional outdoor work in premium office environments.
May require climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Must be comfortable working during off-hours or weekends as needed for project completion or scheduling.
Here's What We're Looking For
3+ years of commercial or high-end residential painting experience required.
Experience in general building maintenance or handyman work.
Excellent knowledge of surface preparation, application techniques, and materials.
Strong eye for detail, color matching, and finish quality.
Ability to read and follow specifications, blueprints, and work orders.
Professional appearance and demeanor; strong communication skills.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and safe handling of materials.
