Role Purpose
Provides the necessary craft and carpentry skills for mainlining the building and/or offsite properties. Ability to perform repair of existing and completion of new facility finishes. Accomplishes the most difficult repairs and overhauls on any of the building finishes in any facility in the system. Provides support to other trades as required.
Responsibilities
Keeps equipment clean and operational. Handles and disposes of hazardous and or infectious waste properly and practices infection control. Adheres to regulatory guidelines.Produces professional, high quality construction, painting, and coating applications utilizing standard painter skills.Performs preventative maintenance on schedule and in accordance with department standards.Identifies and makes recommendations in regards to areas and items within the facility that are in need of upgrade or repair.

Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Painter for the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired and Illinois School for the Deaf located in Jacksonville, Illinois to perform tasks of painting, decorating, and refinishing of building interiors and exteriors and other structures, equipment and furnishings. This position prepares interior or exterior walls, metal surfaces, floors, ceiling, and equipment for painting, removes fixtures/objects from walls, removes excess paint, washes walls, repairs cracks, patches and holes along with preparing and applying patching plaster and sanding surfaces. Moves heavy furniture, office equipment and other objects weighting up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 75-100 pounds with assistance. Lifts and erects ladders or scaffolding. Cleans and maintains equipment and ensures the proper use, repair and storage of materials, tools and equipment. Travels in the performance of duties.
Essential Functions

* Requires successful completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program and two years of full-time journey level painter experience OR six years of full-time journey level painter experience.

* Requires the ability to lift and move heavy equipment, materials, structures and furniture up to 50 pounds independently, and up to 75-100 pounds with assistance.

The Painter will:
Maintains interior and exterior building wall finishes and surfaces, with paint, coatings, wall coverings, plaster and other repair materials.
Selects pre-mixed paints or prepares paints to match specific colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances.
Prepares site by covering furniture, equipment and floors with drop cloths and masking doors, windows and other trim where required.
Prepares surfaces for painting, including cleaning, minor repair and patching of metals, wood, masonry, and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary.
Perform wall patch/hole and crack repairs.
Installs, removes, and replaces cove bases, ceiling tiles, wall mounted items, and similar accessory items as needed.
Install cove base or baseboard.
Wipe down cove base and wipe down furniture surfaces with cleaning solutions in common areas.
Maintains parking areas, which may include striping the parking lot

Amentum is seeking a 2nd shift Facility Painter in Peoria, Il! Typical work hours are 2nd Shift Mon-Fri 3:00 pm to 11:30pm; hours may vary based on business demand.
The Facility Painter will be tasked with various sized painting projects throughout the facility, including the pre-painting preparatory work.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Interior prepping and painting of office spaces, hallways, rest rooms, closets, meeting rooms, etc.
May require some dry wall patching and mudding, and some wall papering or patching.
Exterior painting includes, but not limited to doors, railings, bollards, walkways and striping.
Includes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
Must be meticulous and produce high quality work.
