Description: Maintain the painting, wall repair and appearance of all facilities. Participate in any other department related work to support the team, installing and removing awnings, snow removal and cross-training with the Engineering Crew. Support the Emergency Response Team to handle emergencies around the property. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Work with computers for maintenance requests and building automation. Glaze windows. Scrape and sand-out roughness to prepare surfaces for priming/painting. Clean surface of mildew prior to priming/painting. Remove fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting. Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fill prior to priming. Spread drop cloth over floors and room furnishings and cover surfaces such as baseboards, door frames and windows to protect surfaces during painting. Paint surfaces with brushes, spray gun and/or paint rollers. Complete basic carpentry tasks (i.e. measuring, cutting, nailing, etc.) Repair bed posts. Complete drywall installation including taping and finishing joints and patches. Assist Engineers/Carpenter when necessary. Contribute to overall resort team effort by completing additional duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Guest rooms, (occupied and unoccupied) meeting rooms, The Sports Club, Birdwood Golf Course, dining rooms, kitchens, meeting space, Spa and all back-of house areas. Engineers should not enter dining rooms or meeting rooms during times of occupancy unless unavoidable. Work in occupied guest rooms will be at the guest request, only. Requirements: Essential: At least 6 months previous painting experience. Knowledge of preparation and painting of drywall, plaster, cinder block and stucco. Ability to cut in straight lines between colors. Ability to use nine-inch and sixteen-inch rollers. Ability to be productive while working independently. Responsible for arriving to work on-time or early for scheduled shift, in all weather conditions, and as called upon. Ability to communicate and work well with other team members. Ability to change tasks quickly as priorities change. Desirable: Skilled in plaster repairs. Job Responsibilities Paint and apply finishing coats to in accordance to blueprints and/or customer specifications. Set-up and maintain work areas and operate painting equipment in accordance to safety procedures. Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance. Inspects painted parts for quality and workmanship to be sure no runs, sags, or drips on parts, and areas that should not be coated are correct. Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using spray guns Cleaning machines, equipment and work areas using water, solvents and other cleaning aids Reviewing and implementing work orders and assignments Efficiently use and maintain paint material inventory Consistently utilize all required safety equipment, properly dispose of hazardous waste Operates all required equipment to perform necessary repairs in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and applicable local, state and federal regulations Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policies JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1 year of experience in wet painting operations. Preferable working in industrial or automotive environment. JOB TITLE: Painter REPORTS TO: Paint Foreman Summary of position: Assist in surface preparation, mixing of paint, application of coating, striping, and clean up. Position requires willingness to learn, and the ability to follow directions concerning painting in the marine industry. May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner. Essential Job Requirements: Make certain surfaces are prepared for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications; paint surfaces using approved methods, striping tanks in a productive and timely manner as well as mixing paint as directed; must work within OSHA requirements relative to the shipbuilding industry; must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations; accurately operate, clean, and maintain all assigned equipment; properly store equipment; dispose of empty paint and solvent cans appropriately; properly store and take appropriate precautions for paint and solvents as directed by supervisor; knowledgeable in checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness being applied; assist sprayers in pulling lines; must be able to correctly and promptly follow directions. May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner. Required Education: None Required Experience: Formal or informal on the job training and two years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry. Required Skills: Ability to take direction required. Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel.
