Performs a variety of routine duties related to food preparation and service for patients and the cafeteria. Operate major food prep equipment. Cleans assigned areas following established practices and procedures for quality, safety, and infection control. Performs cashier duties using the POS system. Perform general cleaning duties; removes trash and garbage to designated areas. Provides service in all retail areas, including cashiering, line serving, and working grill stations. Inventories and restocks supplies and food products in the cafe. Sets up serving line, ensuring temperatures are taken, recorded and within acceptable ranges; notifies cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits. Serves hot and cold items to customers. Sets up items for purchase on daily basis. Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment. Brews coffee and tea. May be required to restock other beverage areas. Interacts with customers in the serving and dining areas.
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for food handling and packaging of home delivered meals, and clean-up of the mid-day meal at the dining site kitchen.

Cleans, washes, and prepares foodservice equipment and home delivered meal carriers as required.
