Performs surgical scrub responsibilities; assist the surgeon and the circulating RN. Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and cleaning of assigned equipment. Stocks and prepares the epidural cart. Performs other tasks as needed, including, but not limited to the following: assist with patient transport, readying and moving gurneys, stocking supplies and solutions, assisting in the turnover of the LDRP suites, clerical duties and transporting specimens. Accesses medication/supply room areas in order to re-stock items in the Surgical Services Areas (OR Suites, PACU, GI and Outpatient Surgery) located in those secure areas; handles only supplies pertinent to those supplies required in the Surgical Services areas. 7. Competent in all routine skills within the tech scope of practice including, but not limited to 1) assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, ambulating, toileting 2) safe use of any medical equipment 3) measurements of vital signs, weights, calorie count, intake and output 4) demonstrates appropriate use of restraints 5) assists in care of the patient during admission, transfer, discharge and/or death 6) performs ongoing observations of the patient and reports abnormal findings to RN and 7) completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided to patients. 8. Provides care and performs observations of all age groups of patients and demonstrates knowledge and consideration of age specific and cultural differences. 9. Responds promptly and courteously to patient needs throughout the shift, participates in hourly rounding, answers lights and responds immediately to requests from any patient. Also responsible for facilitating communication between patients, patient families, staff, physicians and ancillary departments. 10. Responsible for completing a number of clerical support duties required to admit patients to the unit, including but not limited to, entering patient information into the computer system, entering orders, lab, radiology and diagnostic tests and arranging transfers to other facilities. 11.
