Competent in all routine skills within the tech scope of practice including, but not limited to 1) assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, ambulating, toileting 2) safe use of any medical equipment 3) measurements of vital signs, weights, calorie count, intake and output 4) demonstrates appropriate use of restraints 5) assists in care of the patient during admission, transfer, discharge and/or death 6) performs ongoing observations of the patient and reports abnormal findings to RN and 7) completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided to patients.
8. Provides care and performs observations of all age groups of patients and demonstrates knowledge and consideration of age specific and cultural differences.
9. Responds promptly and courteously to patient needs throughout the shift, participates in hourly rounding, answers lights and responds immediately to requests from any patient. Also responsible for facilitating communication between patients, patient families, staff, physicians and ancillary departments.
10. Responsible for completing a number of clerical support duties required to admit patients to the unit, including but not limited to, entering patient information into the computer system, entering orders, lab, radiology and diagnostic tests and arranging transfers to other facilities.

Decontaminates, cleans, and cares for operating room equipment utilizing clean/sterile technique used in a procedural setting.
Identifies, gathers, and prepares instrument and equipment and specialty items for all procedures in a timely manner according to preference card.
Acknowledges physiologic needs for the patient (size of equipment, maintenance of body temperature and patient safety).
Demonstrates and maintains competency as an expert in 3 or more specialties/service lines (e.g., Thoracic, Ortho, Spine, ENT).
May require on call duty.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Additionally, the Surgery Technician II acts as a preceptor to other staff and students. May assist in development of educational programs. Serves as a resource for staff in specialty area.
LDR and LDRP (Irvine Birthing Suites): The Surgery Tech II LD sets up delivery tables and assist OB/RN with deliveries. Participates in a department Quality Improvement team/initiative.
Education and Experience
Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Scrub Technician program or equivalent military medical core training (not required for GI Lab)
Minimum of one year Surgery Tech/scrub experience, preferably within an ambulatory or acute healthcare environment.
Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred
LDR and LDRP (Irvine Birthing Suites): Minimum one year Surgery Tech/ scrub experience required, preferably in Labor and Delivery.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Participates as member of the surgical team under direct supervision of an RN/Charge Nurse or Clinical Manager.
Functions in the role of scrub/assist person and assisting physician and/or RN.
Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients.

Education and Experience

Solid computer technical skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and additional Organizational systems (Affinity, SMS, and PACS)
